- Born and raised in Erie, Pa, I always fished with my father when I was growing up. It became second nature to me. I was always fishing for something. When I got older I owned my own boat. Actually, I owned many boats, as I always kept buying a bigger one. I’ve been a charter boat captain for 35 years now. I’m the only captain born and raised in Erie,Pa. My 30 foot Penn Yan Hardtop is fully equipped with all the latest and most advanced electronics. I have ten five color lead core poles ready to go. Ten 7 color poles. Twelve poles with line counter reels with Spiderwire line. Four wire dipsy rods and four braided dipsy rods. Four Downrigger rods. Plus a cabin full of tackle boxes. The boat weighs 12,000 lbs, so it takes the water very comfortably. The cabin has a private stand up head. I’ve been fishing this lake all my life and know all the spots the fish go to when the fishing gets tough. I can guarantee you I’ll be on a school of fish when no one else is.
- Techniques
- Trolling with planer boards and big dipsys and Downriggers. I run five rods on each planer board. Four big dipsys and four Downriggers. I run a lot of spoons as they catch both walleyes and steelhead.
