Captain Mike tried to call you and left you a voicemail after we received the review; however, you did not respond. We want to personally address some of your concerns.

For trips, productivity is based on the weather, the tide, the currents, and the fact that fish may just not want to bite! This is explicitly explained to you the evening prior to your trip. There are a number of factors contributing to where we fish and what we focus on.

Especially with bringing 6 people on a 4 hour backwater fishing trip, our goal is to ensure every individual has the opportunity to fish. Having just fished the morning in the mangroves, Captain Mike knew exactly where the Redfish were hitting and immediately you caught a 25” Redfish. Captain Mike specifically had to tell you we cannot keep Redfish since they are currently closed and you were visibly upset about the regulation. You group then asked if you could catch fish to eat. Based on that decision, we had to go to a location that may not be as productive but produce the possibility of fish to eat

We can currently keep trout so we proceeded to the trout flats. Tides were slack and the days conditions were not working to our advantage. You still managed to catch fish and it seemed like your group had a good time on the trip. You did not indicate during or at the end of the trip that you were dissatisfied about your experience when you had ample opportunity. Captain Mike communicated with you every step of the way- we changed plans when you wanted to have fish to eat, we made attempts to find better locations so your whole group can have an equal opportunity to fish despite the conditions.

We would like to thank you for going out with Southwest Florida Charters. We are surprised to see this rating. We tried to reach out to you multiple time once we saw this. However, you refused to answer my calls and also refused answer my text messages. We always appreciate feedback; but with absolutely no context to the review and after trying multiple times to get in touch with you, we decided to reply to your rating. Since there is no commentary, we would like to mention a few things that happened so that anyone who sees this review can realize a few things that happened.

Captain Matt had a great trip with you. Multiple fish caught including Grouper and Snapper, many good experiences made for your family members, and a good day in general. Captain Matt even gave you 30 minutes of additional time at the end of the trip. However, at the end of the trip, you method of payments all declined (debit and Venmo). To ensure the payment would be received, your wife decided to stay behind while you drove to your hotel. After you figured out your method of payment and called it in, when we asked if you wanted to leave a tip, you wanted to round the balance to the nearest hundred dollar. This would have left no tip for Captain Matt since the rounding was exactly the balance. After explaining that a standard tip after a great trip would be 15-20%, you opted for a 15% tip. You apologized over the phone for the payment issues and thanked us for a great time and an exemplary trip with Captain Matt.

So you can imagine our surprise when we saw the low review with absolutely no feedback a week after the trip. You are welcome to text us or call us back at any point to give us feedback for this trip. We hope in the future, if you decide to come back to Fort Myers, that you will enjoy your fishing experience once again.
