My father and I booked a charter with R Sport fishing a few weeks prior to coming to Costa Rica. We were lucky to book an all day charter with Captain Isai and his first mate. The boat was clean and well stocked with food and beverages as well as tons of rods lures and bait. Captain Isai communicated well prior to the trip confirming details and the day of was easy to contact once we reached the meet up point. Upon getting on the boat he confirmed what we wanted to fish for and then we were off. We tried to get some Mahi Mahi and did have a few bites, but the fish were not too turned on so he took us to another spot to troll. After a bit the other spot showed little action so he took us to a reef where we started to catch fish. He brought tons of bait and got some fish to use as bait while out there. We fished the reefs for a bit by jigging and then went to a spot that his friends on the radio said would have more fish. Upon arriving we were instantly slamming yellowfin, bonito, and albacore. It was exciting to hear fish just minutes after throwing one in the live well. Altogether we caught 30+ fish and kept 20. It was one of our most memorable days on the water. The captain communicated well, had a calm demeanour, and was willing to let us try what we wanted. The boat ride was great as well. We saw humpback whales, dolphins, and tons of jumping Tuna. For the cost you pay and the quality you get the experience is a steal. Thanks for the great time guys!

We did a half day AM trip with captain Rocha and his first mate. Communication before the trip was great. They were ready to go right at 7am with stocked boat and cooler. We were targeting rooster fish and something for dinner.  We ended up catching 6 jack fish (fun to catch and release) and 1 large spanish mackerel for dinner. Although we didn’t catch the rooster, Rocha and his first mate tried really hard and allowed us to use the equipment while we were slow trolling. Overall great experience and hopefully we will be back for rooster redemption!

I’ve chartered many boats but these guys are the best.  They are incredibly accommodating and personable.  The most impressive part of the experience is their work ethic.  These guys worked the waters hard to find us rooster fish, which they did.  We had 6 lines out with various baits and they never stopped checking baits and spotting fish.  We fished in the afternoon so catching fish is a challenge.  I caught a smaller rooster initially and then caught a 30-35 lb’er.  You can’t go wrong with these guys!!

Had such a great time on the water with Captain Rocha, we had an absolute beatdown of Roosterfish in the early morning and then moved on to other fish. After that we caught plenty of Jack Crevalle, an African Pompano, and a Rainbow Runner. Later in the day we hooked a sizable Sailfish and Mahi, getting a great display with both fish airing out. The crew is great and definitely experienced, would highly recommend this boat to anyone looking to catch any of the sportfish that inhabit Costa Rica.

Great captain and crew. Picked up and dropped off on the beach at our hotel. Caught plenty of fish. Beer, juice, soft drinks, water, snacks and sandwiches all provided. Great overall experience. The fish we caught were cleaned and bagged ready to go when we were finished. Would absolutely recommend.
