- I moved to Cooper Landing 14 years ago and purchased Gwin’s Lodge, fishing is very much part of the community, and is one of the main reasons I am even here. The Kenai River is a speacial place, especially this upper river and its origins as it flows out of Kenai Lake. Not only does this place boast some of the largest salmon runs in the world, but is also one of the best opportunities on earth for trophy wild run rainbows. - Fly fishing is king on the Kenai river. Even if you’re not an avid fly fisher person, don’t let that keep you from trying. Very little casting is needed from our drift boats and our guides are very helpful and instructive. If spin fishing is what you prefer, top of the line spin fishing equipment is always available.
