Due to Hurricane Helene’s path through the southeast, the weather on Friday was going to be bad enough, the Captain rescheduled our trip for Saturday. Friday evening, he let us know the winds and swells were going to be high, making the trip uncomfortable for those prone to motion sickness. My group still wanted to go, so we were ON!!

Saturday morning, at 4:30 a.m. while my group was in the car en route to the boat slip to board for our 50+ miles foray into open waters, the Captain called and stated (as a responsible boat owner and Captain would do) he was up checking the weather and the winds and swells were going to be TOO GREAT (with a small craft advisory) that we would have an awful experience and not catch anything, trip canceled. We asked about doing a near-shore fishing trip or the Intercoastal Waterway and he explained about the fresh water (rain and the river head release) making the water such that we would not catch anything. Maybe other boat owners/captains would have taken our money, but he was being straight with us. Trip canceled to be rescheduled.

About 7 am, sitting on the deck of our rental, the water was calm, the winds low, so sending him a short video, asked the question, is it better now so we can go? He replied “West wind is deceiving, offshore no change. Not more than a few knots anyway.” I’m happy our captain was honest. We will come back to take a trip and catch the Big Ones (tuna, wahoo, sailfish)!

I will say hands down the BEST!  Everything from the booking and being informed and contacting the crew after booking was fantastic and very professional! Very accommodating in each one of our needs and making us feel like just part of the family and caring.  With kids right around young teenagers they were excited about fishing and they made the experience a memorable one for them and the kids already want to go back out with this crew again soon!! Captain Keith and first mate Dylan provided a wonderful fishing experience for us and 4 grandsons, ages 7-14.  With 4 lines cast out and Dylan’s instruction, the kids excitedly watched the lines and pulled in very active Spanish Mackerel every few minutes.
Dylan expertly cleaned our fish at the dock upon return.  We loved seeing a huge Loggerhead Turtle popping his head up waiting for fish scraps and the marina pelicans enjoying their lunch.

Our family had a blast.  I booked the afternoon trip and they called me and offered the morning trip as they have been a lot more productive with Fish and were able to reschedule for when the fish were biting this time of year, which I really appreciated!  My girls who are 6 and 4 years old were accommodated perfectly. The 19 month old had the best nap ever in the cabin while the rest of us were able to fish. We caught lots of Spanish Mackerel and some blues. You could be as active as you wanted or just reel them in and relax!  The boat was clean and set up perfectly. I’ve been on a lot of charters and the crew and captain are top notch. I can’t wait to book an off shore trip with them when the kids get older! Highly recommended!!

We went mackerel fishing that day and caught a 25+ pound king mackerel along with five other king mackerel. I have been fishing with them six times down and have always had good luck and a good time.
