My son and I had a great time.  We are novice fishermen at best, but Capt. John put us on a lot of fish.

I found myself in Orlando for business and had a free day. I searched for flats fishing; snook and redfish were still on my list, the Tarpon draw was there too. I read about 20 reviews of area guides. I kept coming back to Captain Jonathan. I am female and was fishing alone. Picking a guide who I could trust, who would respect my abilities and coach me through my deficiencies was a priority. Don’t get me wrong, having fun was also a priority. Captain Jonathan was very communicative and responsive about scheduling and directing me to his boat. His boat was spotless (very important for me) and his equipment was top notch. The conversation was easy, fun and extremely energetic. Captain Jonathan was as excited as I was and I know I mentioned this previously, his coaching was excellent. He was honest, he said snook were hard to find, I didn’t mind, the surroundings, the water, the sunrise were spectacular. Once I got the cobwebs out of my casting (thanks for your patience Jonathan) I had many opportunities for redfish, I blew it, Jonathan put me in the right place I couldn’t land the fish. He offered an easier way (bait), I wanted to get better so he encouraged me and we stuck to lures. Then we targeted Tarpon, a species I caught previously but who doesn’t love Tarpon fishing. Shortly after I was directed to “cast toward the mangroves” I caught my first snook. With my heart racing Jonathan was as happy for me as I was. High fives, hugs then a respectful and patient release. Jonathan is very respectful to the fish and the fishing area which makes me like him even more. He cared about my wishes to quickly and safely return the snook so he could fight another day.  I can’t wait to fish with Jonathan again, I intend on traveling to the Orlando area just to book with him, that is if he’s available. You should book with this guy now because I have a feeling he’s going to get really busy and sought after, he’s that good!

My father and I asked Jonathan to take us fishing one morning while we were in town for a friends wedding. Jonathan was very accommodating with our schedule. He was professional in his appearance and everything was very clean. The boat was spotless, gear was all rigged and ready to use at a moment notice. Our trip to the boat launch was enjoyable in part by good conversation and a smoke free vehicle. Once at the boat ramp, the boat was launched and ready in minutes and we were off. The boat was smooth on the water and it took just a few minutes to reach our first fishing spot. Right away we were seeing activity and soon enough I had a fish on. After landing the first red I put two more in the boat. My father missed two in the same time period but then, with Jonathan’s expert guidance, put my dad on a nice red. We had such a great great experience with Jonathan that we will be booking him for a fishing trip every time we in Florida!

My wife lined up the trip for my fathers day present and wow it was awesome.  Capt Moss poled me around all day through mangrove cuts and pools and consistantly got me into position for fish.  There were multiple shots at tarpon, redfish, trout and black drum.  I landed my biggest red and trout on fly to date from the bow of his boat.  I can’t wait to get back out there again.

Great coms leading up to the trip, Jonathan s skiff is new and well equipped, Jon gave me some coaching as being from the UK Bass fishing was new to me, I was soon into a fish (that I lost ) we hunted for more Bass feeding on fry and with a change of lure I was catching. Jonathan is friendly understanding of peoples fly casting skills and good fun so makes for a great day. Recommended

I had a quick business trip to the Orlando area and asked a good friend of mine from Florida who I should try and squeeze a quick trip in with. Jonathan was his immediate response. We sent some quick messages and a trip was planned. He went far above and beyond for our trip grabbing me from airport when I landed to dropping me off at hotel. Beyond the above and beyond door to door service we had a great time on the water. I’m a fairly seasoned fly fisherman from Texas so I haven’t had too many shots (if any) at tarpon and snook. He was able to get me on my first 2 tarpon and we managed a good snook too. I’m looking forward to getting back to the area and seeing what else we can target.

Captain Moss was the best charter I have been on yet. Our day started slow, but Capt. Moss kept changing things up until we found the fish and found what they wanted to bite on. Capt. Moss’s knowledge was top notch. The equipment was second to none. And the attitude and charismatic personality of Capt. Moss makes it easy to enjoy yourself out on the water. I highly recommend booking Capt. Moss for your next charter. You will not regret it.

High my name is Kent,i meet Capt. Moss at the ramp at Haulover Canal May 7at 6am introduced myself and knew right then that this was going to be a great day on the water. We headed out to spot in the mosquito lagoon and arrived around 6:20 am,set myself on the casting platform and hunting for reds.It took about 15 maybe 20 minutes before I got the magical thud of a redfish on the other end of the line ,got the fish to the boat got her out of the water didn’t measure but if I had to guess at least 33” that was one of three all about the same size 33-35” by now it was only8:15 am,i was also able to land some smaller slot size trout by now it was9:00 am.Capt.Moss took me another spot where we eventually located some juvenile poon all round the everywhere you looked nothing but poon even with both of us casting swimsuits and small spoons we were just not able to make them chew.Never the less would not have any problem booking another trip had a fantastic day of fishing look forward to doing it again PS. If you don’t book a day with Capt.Moss you don’t know what you are missing,he will put you on fish garrenteed

Captain Jonathan Moss does an outstanding job!! The East Cape Fury just adds even more fun to the trip and it comfortably sits up to three guests.  We had an awesome full day adventure where Capt. Jonathan put us on a crazy amount of Redfish and Trout, it is really a turn-key deal that everyone needs to experience!

Went out for an afternoon Bass Trip with Capt Jon! His equipment and boat are top of the line. He meticulously maintains and cares for equipment. Even with his equipment being top notch… It doesn’t come close to his passion for the guest experience. He loves to fish and strives to make a trip of a lifetime every time! Regardless of the fact I caught the biggest bass of my life, I would highly recommend the adventure with GoCastaway Fishing Charters and Capt Jon!

Captain Jonathan is as good as it gets when it comes to guides!  His boat is gorgeous, equipment is top notch and on top of all that, he knows where the fish are and how to catch them! I have booked Captain Jonathan multiple times and on our last trip he put me on my first tailing red fish and caught my first red fish on fly… All in one trip!  I highly recommend him as guide!

I had a day to kill in the Orlando area and booked a trip fishing with Captain Jonathan from Go Castaway Charters.  We fished Mosquito Lagoon on what was I expected to be a terrible day.  There was steady rain but not so bad we could not fish.  Captain Jonathan told me he knew where to find Reds for me to cast to with my fly rod.  Boy, was that the truth.  Within 10 minutes of launching his flats boat he spotted tails.  It was very calm but completely overcast and his spot had a lot of fish tailing.  It was a dream shot for me.  I hooked up on a nice Red on one of my first casts.  Captain Jonathan tied a shrimp fly pattern and the Reds loved it.  We fished about 4 hours in off-and-on rain and we were constantly in fish.  At the end of the day I caught 8 Reds, 4 on a fly rod and 4 on a spinning rod.  I was casting a spoon and the fish liked it a lot.  Right before we needed to leave Captain Jonathan asked me if I wanted to throw a top-water plug at the fish.  Remember, these fish were tailing.  I told Jonathan that a top-water did not make sense to me since the fish had their heads on the bottom.  He assured me it was worth a shot.  His plug produced the “fish of the day” and a crazy cool hit.  He had me throw the plug 20 feet past the fish, crank it directly above him and stop.  Then Jonathan had me shake the plug loudly above the fish.  The Red did a crazy fast flip inhaling the plug and not really being happy to have it in his mouth.  It was the biggest fish of the day and the hardest fighting.  Jonathan has a very cool flats boat that is awesome looking.  I learned a lot about how Redfish feed and had the time of my life.  I will absolutely use Captain Jonathan again my next time in Florida.  If you have never fished Mosquito Lagoon I highly recommend it.  It is a BEAUTIFUL place….even in the rain!!!
