Hi! I'm Captain Art Brown, born and raised on Sullivans Island, South Carolina. I've grown up in a family of fisherman. When I was young, my grandfather had the public fishing pier on Isle of Palms. I spent the majority of my free time fishing on that pier, the beach or in the creeks.
When I was a teenager, I was given the opportunity to fish on a long liner. We targeted swordfish and tuna. Sometimes we would stay out up to two weeks at a time.
After that, I started working on Charter Boats. We targeted Marlin sailfish, tuna, Wahoo, and mahi-mahi.
I've been taking people fishing all my life. In 2023 inspired by my son Finn I decided to get a captains license.
When he isn't in school, sometimes he works on the boat as my first mate. We would love to take you fishing

We do a couple of charters a year and have had plenty of hit-or-miss experiences with other guides, but Art nails it every single time — the reels were zinging all day long! What sets him apart is his deep local knowledge. He grew up here and knows the rivers and offshore spots better than anyone, and he’s incredibly generous with tips and tricks. His love for the water really shows. He was also great with our kids — patient, fun, and made sure everyone stayed engaged. One of our favorite parts of the trip was hearing about his work in ocean conservation. He tags fish and works with DNR and other agencies to help protect our local ecosystem, which made it clear he genuinely cares about these waters beyond just putting fish in the boat. We’ll absolutely be booking with Captain Art again. Highly recommend if you want a guide who actually delivers.

Fins and fossils! • 6 adults • 2 childrenSuch a great trip. Caught Red Bull Drum fish, toad fish, and sharks. Walking around on one of the island's and found lots of shark teeth. The kids loves seeing hermit crabs and turtles and blue crabs while walking on the island.

What's biting with Island Boys Outdoor Adventures in Charleston
The cooler temperatures and drop in rainfall makes inshore fishing much more enjoyable. Trout bite well this time of year, as do Sheepshead, Red Drum, and Flounder. Offshore, Tuna are still going strong.

Inshore, offshore snd nearshore is about as good as it gets! The bull redfish bite is smoking hot, at the reefs the cobia, spades and grouper are plentiful! The rods are staying bent snd the drag is getting worked hatd! Lets go!!!

We met the silver king today!

What a trip! Started out with a bunch of bonnethead sharks. Then we hooked into a giant spotted eagle ray! Chased it down and followed ot for an hour until it was boat side.
Decided to swich gears and look for a tarpon… and after quite a few sharks of all kinds our move payed off!
We hooked and landed a giant tarpon over 150 lbs!

The sheepshead bite is smoking hot right now! We went through 400 fiddker crabs yesterday, non stop action from the first drop to the last! Dont wait to book a trip to catch some of the tastiest fish around… they will be at the reefs until mid to late april.

We started out the day at the reef and caught several cobia. Had 2 tiger sharks over 500 lbs!!! Headed out to the lice bottom and loaded up on triggerfish, black sea bass and multiple species of snapper.
