The crew were great and worked very hard to help us catch fish.  We brought home a yummy mahi and my husband got to catch the rooster fish he really wanted to catch.

The boat was a perfect size   Big enough to handle the water yet small enough for speed from point a to b. Captian and crew were great. Always trying to get you fish.

Fish where not biting but that happens sometimes. Captain and mate good, but not great. Equipment ok, outriggers didn’t release line on two hits.  Worst part of trip was getting on boat heading out and seeing sign indicating crew expect 20% tip. That’s $150. If this is the norm it should be posted on website and noted at booking.  I paid for an 8 hours trip which included a crew I thought, the crew should be paid out of the trip cost not out of an expected tip.  In-fair to the crew Tipping is an optional practice which has become excepted or demanded in many settings,  Guess in quit charter fishing. One of the highlights of my Costa Rican vacation was fishing with flamingo sports fishing. Very professional well-maintained boat.

Realize time of year us not best for fishing. The weather was very windy (50 km plus). Obviously fishing was very slow-3 black tune & 1 mackerel. Cut fishing short to go snorkelling which was great. The trip indicates snack & lunch. Fresh fruit was great but a tray of nachos with pick de gallo isn’t lunch.  Lots of beer. 700$ is a lot of money for this trip.

Crew was great. Very easy to make reservation even at last minute. Unfortunately no fish were caught in 4 hours on the water.

Impeller on port engine failed first two hours of the trip. spent one and one half hours for the crew to make repairs. They extended the trip for one hour.

This was my families first trip out of the country. I brought my wife and son here for our 18th anniversary. I booked an all day trip with Erika through Flamingo Sportfishing on the Black Fin. The morning of our trip she was prompt in greeting us on the beach in front of our resort (we stayed at the Rui Palace). She gave us Koozies and collected the money and everything went really smooth. She was supposed to have long sleeve Flmingo Sportfishing shirts for us but they weren’t ready so she said she would bring them to us at resort later after our trip   Our boat was awaiting just off the beach and the deckhands paddled a smaller skiff to beach to get us to the fishing boat. The captain Joell greeted us and helped us aboard and we were off. Within an hour we were fishing.  The first fish hooked was a 66” bull Mahi Mahi. I reeled it in and he was a fighter. Put on good show for us. We were told it was the biggest one caught this season so far. The second fish was a sailfish aprox 100 lbs. great fish! My wife reeled it in. I wanna say it could have been all of 8 foot in length. The third fish of the day was also a sailfish about 7 foot, my 17 year old son reeled it in (with a little help from his dad, and I sure didn’t mind helping).  We lost a few other fish needless to say. That’s fishing. The deckhands Mauricio and Carlos were very experienced and the captain definitely knows his stuff. They caught some yellow fin tuna for live bait and filleted the rest for sushi. Even served it with wasabi and soy sauce.  That’s was the best tuna I have ever eaten.  Melted in your mouth. Carlos made the best sandwiches for us to eat for lunch and the cooler was packed down with drinks and beer and more fruit than we could eat. They cleaned the Mahi mahi, filleted it, bagged it up and put on ice as well as the remaining tuna fillets.  This was our first time out of the country and our first time sail fishing and were not sure what to expect. These guys worked very hard to make sure we had a great time. Waited on us hand and foot and managed the poles. The boat was clean and they kept it that way.  Much to our surprise we were the only boat that caught any fish that day and the pictures of our fish had already made it around the locals by the time we got back to the beach. We felt like celebrities.  Ericka did bring out shirts later that night. We got to meet her grandmother (such a sweet lady) Erika was very pleasant as well not to mention very professional.  This was one of the happiest days of our lives and we have Flamingo to thank for that. I would highly recommend them to friends, family and anyone looking to book a fishing trip for the first time.  We researched for weeks and finally chose Flamingo Sportfishing and I’m glad we did. We had the opportunity to see whales, shark, many dolphines, sea turtles and sailfish jumping out of the water in the near distance.  It was a trip of a life time and we are looking forward to many more trips to Costa Rica.
