Background
Hello Everybody, My name is Captain Cliff Fleming I grew up fishing in the Rio Grande Valley at a very early age. I was guiding people back in 8th grade for big saltwater fish. I lived on the water and my heart is filled with unmatched inspiration to fish and im strongly compelled to fish everyday if possible and my compassion still is the same today. I love people and kids and I am thrilled to teach you how how to fish and feed your minds along the way. As far as I know I'm probably the most experienced 6-pack USCG in the South Padre Island area. I provide top notch equipment and a state of the art vessel for bay fishing. Mostly Im easy going, friendly, fun, and informative about the area and fishing. Available are other trips like Rocket launches, fireworks, dolpin and bird watching, or just an evening sunset cruise. Whether you're a seasoned angler, a vacationer looking to experience prime South Texas fishing, or a beginner, fishing the bountiful Texan waters with Captain Cliff Fleming is an adventure you'll never forget. The captain is a six-pack charter captain with a US Coast Guard license and decades of angling experience. His targeted species are Speckled Trout, Redfish, Flounder, Mangrove Snapper, Black Drum, Tarpon, Snook, Ladyfish, Spanish Mackerel, Kingfish, Cobia, Croaker, Whiting, Shark, and Mullet. Other specialties from the Brownsville Ship Channel such as Lookdown Fish, Filefish, and other unique species are in the cards too.
Techniques
When the fish bites best? That’s a question the captain hears a lot. In general, some conditions are better for fishing than others. Here’s an overview of the best times to fish: Sunrise/Sunset: The times just after the sun rises and just before the sun sets (and for about an hour after) are among the best times to fish; The one hour before/after rule: The hour before and the hour after high and low tides; Keep your eye on the barometer: When the barometer is steady or rising, fishing conditions are generally good. If a storm is present, you can still catch fish because it still needs to hunt despite the poor; The captain's most common fishing techniques are spin fishing off light tackle using braided line in a 30 lbs shock leader of monofilament. Other ways are swimbaits, bottom fishing, humping, popping cork in live shrimp, sometimes by request Croaker can be arranged, sight fishing with plastics, topwater lures, and occasionally fly fishing, one of the captain's best-kept secrets.
