    We had a great experience fishing with Jon from Saint Joe Angler. Jon is incredibly knowledgeable and took the time to teach us about different lures, fishing techniques, and why certain approaches work in different conditions. We learned so much during our trip. He is personable, easy to talk to, and made the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. As visitors from out of town, one of the highlights was that Jon showed us areas we never would have found on our own, giving us a unique perspective of the area. His communication before and during the trip was excellent, making everything easy and stress-free. Whether you’re a beginner looking to learn or an experienced angler wanting to improve your skills, I highly recommend booking a trip with Jon at Saint Joe Angler

    Great time on the river

    Half Day Trip – Local - 3:00 PM • 2 adults

    Captain Jon was very nice, polite and punctual. He stayed in communication with us until we met with him to go fish. Very relaxing time on the water as he navigated his way up and down the paw paw river. Was always at the ready to try a different rigging to keep the fish guessing. At the end of our trip he was even able to take us out into the Harbor and try some salmon fishing.Great time, would book again!

    Second time goong out with Jon. Had a great day on the water for my boys 11th birthday, he caught some pike and smallies, and as an added bonus he got to fight a few steelhead!

Autumn Smallies

The first week of October brought about cooler temperatures that have it finally feeling like fall in SW Michigan. Despite the lack of precipitation and low water Smallmouth Bass fishing remains excellent on the Saint Joe. Fish are located adjacent to structure and are packing on the calories for the upcoming winter. They cant resist anything imitating the local forage base (crawfish, shiners, or gobies). A few salmon have also begun to stray into the Saint Joe but fishing has been spotty for anadromous fish. Expect this to improve with rain and cooling temp. Let me know If you are interested in getting on the water to enjoy some fishing and fall colors before cooler temps move in.
