Capt. Avi is a Mauritius native who was born and raised in a big fishing family in Grand-Baie – their knowledge and expertise spans generations! Because of this, he developed a taste for the sea at a very young age. His father taught him the rules of traditional Mauritian fishing, and he loves passing this information on to his guests. Get ready to experience a true island-style angling adventure! Capt. Avi worked as a fisherman on fishing boats, as well as a skipper on a catamaran, a water ski instructor, and a diving instructor. He moved to Switzerland in 2005 for 10 years, and only had one dream: to return to Mauritius to start his big game fishing and tourist services! He can't wait to share the love he has for fishing and his island. He likes to say that his wife Valérie was 'gradually convinced by the project's madness', and this is how Horizon Maurice was born in 2018!

Great day out on the water

Captain Avi was a fantastic host from the pre departure welcome message to the on time hotel pickup. The boat was very clean, well looked after and equipped with decent gear for serious fishing action. My son and I were fortunate to land two dorado on the half day trip. Mike the deck hand was constantly on the move spotting for birds and was very knowledgeable where the action would be. I would highly recommend Horizon Maurice to anyone looking for a good fishing experience.

What an amazing morning out at sea! We were warmly greeted by Captain Avi and introduced to his crew, Rocky and Michael. From the moment we boarded, it was clear that we were in the hands of experienced professionals. Michael was constantly scanning for bird activity to guide Rocky, and their teamwork was impressive to watch. The boat was spotless, the toilet was clean, and all the fishing gear was in great condition. Best of all, within the first hour we landed three dorado! We also hooked a tuna but unfortunately lost it, which only added to the excitement of the day. Thank you, Captain Avi, Rocky, and Michael, for an unforgettable fishing experience. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for a great day of fishing.

Avi war pünktlich bei unserem Hotel. Transfer & Trip war tiptop. Nettes Personal - wir gingen bisschen früher zurück, da 1 Kind seekrank wurde (Avi hat uns vorher daran erinnert...auch wir Erwachsene mussten nach 2h eine Tablette nehmen, da wir es uns nicht gewohnt waren). Aber wir konnten ohne Probleme früher zurück und hatten trotzdem einen Fang :-) Wir würden wieder gehen!

Great crew and boat

My partner and I did a fishing charter with Rocky, Trishy and Michael and had a great time. The crew were very friendly and knowledgeable. They did everything in their power to find fish, constantly scouring the horizon for birds and for splashes. We had a great time on board and managed to come home with a few Bonito. Would definitely recommend booking a charter with Captain Avi and his team - we will be back when the Yellowfin arrive!
