This is our (mum and boys) second time out fishing with Captain Marty, and it did not disappoint. We were so unsure in the lead-up due to the weather, but he communicated well and assured us it would be decent fishing weather. We were lucky there were light intermittent showers (which didn’t affect us) and no wind at all.  Captain Marty’s skill and local knowledge led us to catch 6 decent sized trout. What a wonderful morning! The boys are buzzing from their experience. Thanks again!!

Captain Marty was very professional and an expert at trout fishing. I had a great time fishing with him. He quickly put us on the trout, and I hooked 15 or so in 3 hours and landed most. I kept two, and my best was a solid 4-pounder. It was a fun and exciting morning! Between reeling in fish, Captain Marty kept me entertained with his jokes and great sense of humor. He also gave me some good tips on the Taupo area.

After the trip was over, Captain Marty cleaned my trout and advised me to get them smoked and vacuum packed at a local butcher shop. That was a good idea, as it ensured that no trout meat was wasted.

I thoroughly enjoyed fishing with Captain Marty and would highly recommend him.

We booked the 5hr trip and had an absolute blast!! Marty is personable, easy to chat with, efficient, and knows his stuff!!!
Since we booked the longer trip, we were able to go a ways down the lake and after a quick boat ride he got up set up!! Within 20 minutes of stopping we were into the Rainbows!! We caught about 15 rainbows, and missed about 4 other opportunities. Marty cleaned our two fish we kept, and recommended a local butcher to smoke the fish for us overnight.
Overall, fishing with Marty was an absolute pleasure and we hope to book again in the future!

My boys (8 and 10) and I went out on a very misty morning for the 2 hour taster. Trout were biting 20 min in! Captain Marty was very clear and patient with my boys, who got to catch two great sized trout each! He has great local knowledge and his systems and equipment are impressive. We didn’t have to do a thing except reel in the fish! I was glad I went with the knowledgeable/personable local captain who had the smaller (but not small) boat, rather than something bigger and more commercial.

We all had so much fun! Once back on land we were directed to a butcher for smoking and couriering our fish, at a very reasonable price. When we mentioned Captain Marty the server at the counter smiled with recognition :)

This is the charter you want for your kids! Worth every dollar of the very reasonable price.
