Born and raised in the Keys, Captain John is a 5th generation native to the area. Based on the westernmost point of the Keys, the natural conclusion was to turn to fishing. His biggest catches were a 14' Hammerhead Shark of 700 pounds, and Goliath Groupers weighing just under 500 pounds. Having enjoyed the hobby, he became a professional captain in 2008 and has been running charters ever since. Capt. John claims that the best part of the job is spending time with people, and sharing the passion of fishing with one another.

Captain was an absolute legend on our fishing trip! From the moment we stepped on the boat, his enthusiasm and expertise shone through. He provided top-notch customer service, making sure everyone was comfortable, hydrated, and geared up properly—even sharing tips for the newbies in our group. We limited out on our catch faster than expected, thanks to his spot-on knowledge of the waters, and he put us right on a school of wahoo that had us reeling in some monsters. The whole experience was seamless, fun, and productive. If you’re looking for a captain who delivers results and treats you like family, book with Jake—you won’t be disappointed! 5 stars all the way!

An Amazing Day on the Water

Our fishing charter in the Florida Keys was nothing short of legendary. From the moment we left the dock at sunrise, the turquoise waters promised adventure, and the Keys absolutely delivered. The sheer biodiversity of the reefs and the deep blue is staggering. Within the first hour, we were already hooked into some fish, and the trip was off to a great start. Captain John's local expertise was the "secret sauce"—he knew exactly where the currents met the ledges, putting us on the fish while other boats were still searching. We spent the day reeling in everything from stubborn Barracuda to lightning-fast Snapper, all while surrounded by breathtaking views. The gear was top-notch, the weather was a perfect 80°F, and the energy on the boat was electric. Whether you’re a seasoned angler chasing a trophy or a novice, like me, looking for a thrill, there is truly no better place on Earth to drop a line. We came home with coolers full of fresh fillets and memories that will last a lifetime. If you’re on the fence, book the trip. It’s world-class fishing at its absolute finest.

Capt was there ready to go before we got to the dock. The boat was very clean and organized as well. He is very knowledgeable about the area, respectful and enjoyable to be around. We were able to catch a bunch of different species and had a blast doing so. All in all it was a 10/10 experience and I will be booking again next time I’m done in key west. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a good time and a cooler full of fish.

    Half-Day Trip with Capt.John

    Half Day Trip

Booked Capt. John for a half-day trip and had a great time. We caught a variety of cool inshore fish along with some excellent eating yellowtail snapper. He really went above and beyond to make sure my family and I had the best experience possible. Everything was prepped and ready to go when we got to the dock, which made it super easy. Overall an awesome trip and I’d highly recommend him.

    Captain John was awesome !!

It was a slow day and the conditions were against us. Captain John worked hard and managed to find fish and put my wife on her first bull shark.

The weather cools and the crowds thin. This is the best time of year to score a Slam on the flats. The weather can be unpredictable with hurricanes, but the fishing makes it worth while.

Offshore live bait action!

Nov 30, 2024 • Key West
Fishing Report: Winter Fishery Kicks Off As winter sets in, the blackfin tuna bite has officially kicked off in full force here in Key West! Live baiting has been the name of the game, with pilchards and threadfin herring producing plenty of action. The blackfins have been aggressive, providing anglers with thrilling fights and some quality fish hitting the decks. We also had some opportunities at wahoo this week, which added an extra layer of excitement. While we did manage to hook into some nice ones, the sharks were relentless, and unfortunately, they claimed a few trophies right at the boat. It’s a good reminder to stay quick with the gaff when a wahoo is on the line—every second counts! For those looking to escape the wind and still enjoy a productive day on the water, our inshore fishery is red hot. Mutton snapper action has been excellent, with plenty of solid eaters coming to the boat. Alongside them, we’ve seen a good variety of other snapper species and some fun-sized sharks for anglers who enjoy a bit of a tug on the line. This is a great option for families or anyone seeking calmer conditions with plenty of fresh fish for dinner. With the winter season picking up, now is the time to gear up and hit the water. Whether you’re chasing pelagics or sticking closer to shore, there’s no shortage of action. Tight lines!

Additionally, there’s been plenty of action with sharks, barracudas, and mackerels, providing thrilling rod-bending experiences. The current weather in Key West features mostly cloudy skies with temperatures around 77°F. The forecast for the upcoming days indicates pleasant conditions, with highs in the low 80s°F and lows in the mid-70s Despite the windy conditions, inshore waters have remained fishable, allowing anglers to enjoy excellent fishing opportunities. The presence of various snapper species such as the highly sought after mutton snapper , we've also filled coolers with mangrove yellowtail and lane snappers as well along with sharks, barracudas, and mackerels, has contributed to the dynamic and rewarding fishing experiences in the area. For those planning to fish in the coming days, it’s advisable to monitor weather updates as winter time conditions here in the tropics do change frequently and are sporadic
