Captain Gibson McGuire is the owner and head guide for Fly Fish Rockport and is approaching his 10th year guiding on the Texas coast. He is not only an experienced and proficient guide, but a great teacher, coach, and all around pleasure to spend a day on the flats with. He was born and raised in Austin, Texas but his love for travel and fly fishing has enticed him to try his hand at angling in many far reaching locations. This includes many years chasing trout out west, a stent in Montana living the 'troutbum' lifestyle on the legendary Missouri River, as well as trips to Florida, Louisiana, and overseas. Captain Gibson's years of fly fishing guarantees he will show you all of the incredible sights the Texas coast has to offer, and his knowledge and passion for fly fishing is apparent to anyone who is fortunate enough to spend time on the water with him. When not on the water, Captain Gibson can frequently be found on the golf course for round of 18.

    Half Day Trip • 2 adults • 1 child

    If you like the hunt, this is the experience you want. We did not catch fish but that was not the Captain’s fault. He put my 11 year old son on fish but we were just new to the technique. We will definitely do it again. Captian Gibson was very patient to show us proper technique and get into the shallows to chase reds. My son has been on other trips and caught a lot of fish and still said this was his favorite trip because he loved hunting and working to spot the fish. He’s hooked.

    Clay is super professional as a fish guide an very out going and friendly guy which was important to me. He was also very responsible an safe as a boat captain I didn't question his boat driving skills for one min. This fishing trip would be great for all anglers but the more skilled will definitely have a advantage as you are trying to get there bait in the right spot at the right time.

    Full Day Trip • 2 adults

    This trip was a lot of fun. It was windy so we had some challenges flyfishing. Gibson worked really hard and took the time to work with my daughter on her casting. We did catch fish and had multiple opportunities at fish. I enjoyed the laid back style of the captain and his appreciation of the area.
