Captain Alfonso fell in love with the ocean at a young age. When he was a boy, his father taught him commercial fishing introducing him to a new and fascinating world. That is how Alfonso's passion for fishing began. At the age of 22, Alfonso started to offer his first sportfishing trips, and at the age of 27, his family finally owned their own fishing boat. Alfonso was the only one of his siblings who was passionate about fishing, so soon the family boat became his own. Captain Alfonso is involved with all his heart and passion in the fishing community of Playa del Carmen. So much that he is a co-founder of the first fishing cooperation of Playa del Carmen and has organized the yearly sportfishing tournament of the years 2013 to 2016. Alfonso is a qualified captain, proud to show you the beautiful Caribbean waters and share his passion for fishing with you.

Full Day Trip • 2 adultsThis is probably my 10th trip fishing with Alfonso, and that alone should tell you everything. This time, we booked three separate 8-hour trips over three days, and this review is for Day 1. I keep coming back because of how much fun my friends and I have every time we’re out here. The energy is always great, the conversations are always good, and Alfonso and his first mate are some of the most down-to-earth people you’ll meet. They’re always going out of their way to make sure everyone is comfortable, having a good time, and getting the most out of the trip. And of course, the fishing is always a huge part of it. On Day 1, we came in with Spanish mackerel, barracuda, and snapper, and we’re already looking forward to the next two days. After coming back this many times, I can honestly say Alfonso and his crew never disappoint. If you’re looking for a captain and crew who know how to fish, keep the energy right, and make sure you have a great time, I highly recommend Alfonso.

My son Blake and I went out fishing with them in Playa del Carmen and couldn’t have asked for a better day. We caught 7 fish, which was awesome, but what really made the trip special was how far Capt. Arcos and Martin went to make sure we had an amazing experience. They were fantastic with Blake, incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely cared about making the day memorable for both of us. You could tell they weren’t just trying to take us fishing—they wanted us to have a day we’d remember. The fishing was great, the crew was even better, and this ended up being one of the highlights of our trip to Mexico. If you’re looking to fish out of Playa del Carmen, I highly recommend Capt. Arcos and Martin. We’ll absolutely fish with them again the next time we’re here! Thank you both for an awesome day and for taking such great care of Blake and me!

Full Day Trip • 3 adults • 1 childWe had an incredible day with Alfonso Tours! Alfonso and Martin were fantastic hosts from start to finish. They went above and beyond to make sure our family had a great experience, even tailoring the trip to our 9-year-old son. When we started feeling a little seasick, they stopped at a beautiful beach so we could take a break and recover. The fishing was excellent, we caught 6 fish in total. We took the fish back to our resort where they cooked it for us. They had plenty of snacks and drinks throughout the trip. Their knowledge, friendliness, and flexibility made the day both relaxing and fun. It was a day full of unforgettable memories that our family will cherish for years to come. We highly recommend Alfonso Tours to anyone looking for an amazing day on the water!

Full Day Trip • 2 adultsIf you are looking for an unforgettable fishing charter, look no further than Alphonso Tours. I recently went out with them and had, without a doubt, the time of my life. The crew knows exactly how to find the fish and put you right in the action. We managed to land two massive Mahi Mahi—including a monster 45-inch Bull Mahi—and topped it all off by bringing in a 70-inch Sailfish! Reeling those in was an absolute rush. The entire experience from start to finish was top-notch, professional, and incredibly exciting. I can't recommend Alphonso Tours enough. If you want a world-class day out on the water, book them immediately. I'll definitely be back!

Full Day Trip • 2 adultsCaptain Alfonso and First Mate Martin are among the best charter duos you can spend your day with. Fishing was hard (well, the fish didn't want to cooperate all that much) but we did manage to land a nice dorado and a nice sailfish. Alfonso and Martin worked relentlessly to try to put us on as many fish as possible, travelling many, many times in search of sargassum patches. There were not many to be had after the high winds the previous few days. While fishing was slow the day on the water was great. We very much enjoyed ourselves and the company of the Captain and First Mate. I would not hesitate to book with them again the future and know that they will do everything in their power to put fish on the line.

For a few weeks we had been mainly landing barracudas, we thought the mahi season was ending for this year. Luckily we still managed to finde some for our friend Rey. Excellent catch and great meal!

Beautiful haul after a slow start!

The day started really slow, it was bonanza, and I knew it would take a while to get a bite. After almost 3hr we got two bites at once: two strong barracudas ?? Father and son ended up reeling in 4 barracudas total? Then we changed to bottom fishing to land some rubias (yellowtail snapper) and ended up landing some chacchi as well! After all we had a great day on the water with some strong and fun bites! The day ended with a well deserved meal!!
