He invites you to spend the day aboard 'Calipso III,' a 27' Imemsa saltwater fishing center console that can comfortably accommodate up to 4 anglers. This beauty comes with a Yamaha F100 BETX engine, top-notch marine electronics and safety gear, along with plenty of shade. It also features outriggers, downriggers, 2 fighting chairs, an ice-box, and snorkeling gear for 4 passengers.
The captain will show you a variety of techniques and take you fishing in the hottest spots the area has to offer. You'll get a chance to try your hand at bottom fishing, jigging, and trolling, based on the season and what you're after. All 4 anglers can fish at the same time when bottom fishing, and rotating while trolling. The captain can take you up to 20 miles in pursuit of various A-listers.
Fishing in the area is excellent year-round, especially for Tuna, Wahoo, and Barracuda. During spring and summer, you'll be trolling for big game species such as Blue and White Marlin, Mahi, and Sailfish. If you want to go after Amberjack, jigging for them is exceptionally efficient October–March. To get the most out of your Caribbean adventure, you can always combine epic fishing with some relaxing snorkeling.
Alfonso Tours will provide you with state-of-the-art Penn International and Shimano gear, lures, licenses, and drinks. Snacks are available on 8 and 6-hour trips. Live bait is caught during the trip, and complimentary fish cleaning is done after the trip. You just need to bring any food you'd like, sunscreen, and a desire to catch fish.

We had an incredible day with Alfonso Tours! Alfonso and Martin were fantastic hosts from start to finish. They went above and beyond to make sure our family had a great experience, even tailoring the trip to our 9-year-old son. When we started feeling a little seasick, they stopped at a beautiful beach so we could take a break and recover. The fishing was excellent, we caught 6 fish in total. We took the fish back to our resort where they cooked it for us. They had plenty of snacks and drinks throughout the trip. Their knowledge, friendliness, and flexibility made the day both relaxing and fun. It was a day full of unforgettable memories that our family will cherish for years to come. We highly recommend Alfonso Tours to anyone looking for an amazing day on the water!

If you are looking for an unforgettable fishing charter, look no further than Alphonso Tours. I recently went out with them and had, without a doubt, the time of my life. The crew knows exactly how to find the fish and put you right in the action. We managed to land two massive Mahi Mahi—including a monster 45-inch Bull Mahi—and topped it all off by bringing in a 70-inch Sailfish! Reeling those in was an absolute rush. The entire experience from start to finish was top-notch, professional, and incredibly exciting. I can't recommend Alphonso Tours enough. If you want a world-class day out on the water, book them immediately. I'll definitely be back!

Captain Alfonso and First Mate Martin are among the best charter duos you can spend your day with. Fishing was hard (well, the fish didn't want to cooperate all that much) but we did manage to land a nice dorado and a nice sailfish. Alfonso and Martin worked relentlessly to try to put us on as many fish as possible, travelling many, many times in search of sargassum patches. There were not many to be had after the high winds the previous few days. While fishing was slow the day on the water was great. We very much enjoyed ourselves and the company of the Captain and First Mate. I would not hesitate to book with them again the future and know that they will do everything in their power to put fish on the line.

From the start it was clear Alfonso was knowlegable and passionate about fishing. We trolled the entire day and Alfonso and his crewmate Martin made sure we were comfortable and that lines were rwady in the water at all times. we caught 4 different species of fish: Spanish Mackerel, Mahi Mahi (Dorado), Bonita, and the highlight of the trip, a large Wahoo. Alfonso and Martin worked hard to get these fish on the lines, and they were a joy to be around all day. They both had great energy, and their love of fishing showed through. I'd recommend them to anyone in the Playa Del Carmen area, and if i come back, I'll be booking with them again! A local restaurant, Asi, was ready to prepare our catch for us and our wives, and the meal was delicious. Shashimi, Ceviche, Fried, Grilled, whatever you wanted. Alfonso and Martin stuck around to ensure the fish was cut, prepared well, and even had a drink with us as we ate. It was a memorable and notable trip for my group! Thanks again Alfonso and Martin!!
Took my 7yo on the reef trip this week. Alfonso and Hipolito his first mate gave us an A+ experience! Booking process, logistics and communications = simple, easy to get a hold of and no issues at all in planning. boat was easy to get to and parking was easy. Boat was super clean and gear was in great shape. Alfonso has fresh fruit and drinks for us. Alfonso knows these waters in detail. We trolled king, mackerel, and wahoo, and wow, they definitely had the right bait and skill, unfortunately nothing was biting. Affonso decided to make sure that we got a good catch, so we pivoted to bottom fishing for trigger fish and red snapper, and 30 minutes to be caught a great haul!! when we gor back at the shore, the crew has a relationship with the restaurant at the dock and they were able to clean and cook the fish for us right there (and fast). Delicious feast and Aflono join us to eat it and talk fishing with us. 100% would book again, and plan to do so!

Captain Alfonso fell in love with the ocean at a young age. When he was a boy, his father taught him commercial fishing introducing him to a new and fascinating world. That is how Alfonso's passion for fishing began. At the age of 22, Alfonso started to offer his first sportfishing trips, and at the age of 27, his family finally owned their own fishing boat. Alfonso was the only one of his siblings who was passionate about fishing, so soon the family boat became his own. Captain Alfonso is involved with all his heart and passion in the fishing community of Playa del Carmen. So much that he is a co-founder of the first fishing cooperation of Playa del Carmen and has organized the yearly sportfishing tournament of the years 2013 to 2016. Alfonso is a qualified captain, proud to show you the beautiful Caribbean waters and share his passion for fishing with you.
