Spring Break Fishing Is On Fire!

Spring break is upon us and the fishing is getting better each day! The redfish have been loving this warmer water inshore. Offshore: the Spanish mackerel have shown up in full force nearshore and in the Destin harbor. The kings won’t be far behind! A Mahi Mahi was even caught off a local pier this week! Offshore is only going to continue to get better in the coming weeks and I look forward to taking advantage of it. In the surf along 30A the pompano run has officially begun I do believe. Good numbers of pompano being caught along with some bull reds and nice black drums this time of year. Summer fishing is hot!

The beaches along 30A are coming to life with the Silver Kings! We have had good luck finding big schools of tarpon in the late mornings after wranglin with snapper and grouper early on. Inshore bite is steady with trout on the flats while the sun is coming up and reds are chewing along structure and grass flats througout the bay. Won’t be long before the Jack Crevalles and bull reds invade the bay chasing bait. Don’t miss out on some of the best fishing this area has to offer this time of year!

Captain was nice, weather was poor and the trip should have been postponed. For the size of our group, he really should have had a second crew member to stay on top of bait and gear and make the most of our time, particularly since the trip was cut short by weather.

Melissa I appreciate the review. Unfortunately all I can do is read weather reports the day before and morning of departing to make a decision. They were calling for calm seas and slight chance of rain. As a captain I have to use every weather report available to make a proper decision for safety and overall fishing comfort. Group of 4 and only caught 7 fish. 4 of them small catfish. Just couldn’t seem to find fish today and spent a good amount of time trying to catch bait fish before we could start fishing. Not a good experience for us.

I’m sorry you guys didn’t enjoy your trip. Majority of our fish in our bay are on structure. I wish we had mangroves, oyster beds, etc but we don’t. Our bay can be extremely challenging at times and I took you guys to spots I had decent luck recently with trout, reds, black drum.
