Everything went well. 6:30am pickup at four seasons dock. Bought $20 in fresh sardines just outside the harbor. Had first marlin on within 10 minutes.  Headed offshore and caught a bunch of yellowfin amongst a thousand or so porpoise.  A few small mahi mahi along the way. Then caught another nice marlin on the way back in.  Will do it again next time I’m down here.

Excellent process. Booking the trip was simple and communication with the outfitter was easy.  The captain, boat and equipment are first rate. However, I did leave a little disappointed.  I went to Costa Rica twice for Roosters and failed but I had really high expectations coming to Baja (lots of hype). I was expecting to throw lures and flies for Roosters in specific locations. Instead, we bought sardines just outside the inlet and trolled an area of about 1/4 square mile with many other boats. We threw $10.00 worth of sardines out for chum while trolling sardines of our own (I also trolled a fly). When they were gone, we bought another $20.00 worth and continued the trolling. We caught tons of needle fish, a few sierra mackerel, bonita and a yellow tail. After exhausting our supply of sardines we decided to go further offshore. We trolled for about an hour and a half with one strike which was immediately lost.  Feeling defeated, I called an end to the trip with an hour left. I didn’t see the point. My goal was Rooster Fish and it wasn’t going to happen at that point. Even the guys selling the sardines had gone for the day. Although we really enjoyed the trip and Capt. Alberto was fun and engaging, I was disappointed that our efforts to catch a Rooster involved trolling an area, littered with other fish, in hopes that a Rooster MIGHT be there and get to my bait before any of them. It’s kind of like fishing for a single bass in a trout pond.

If you want to catch fish these guys WILL put you on fish and you’ll have a great time catching them.

Alberto is a fun guy to fish with. The Dorado were thick and the fishing was fast paced. Had 2 guys with me that had never saltwater fished before and both had a blast. Nothing big but it was a successful trip. Would definitely fish with Dod Amigos again!

Had a great time with Captain Alberto. Had everything ready, license and all. Picked us up at the Four Seasons dock. Was able to catch a Dorado and a striped Marlin. Great and easy experience. Highly recommend using them!
