I told Captain Juan that I had dreamed of catching marlin but never done any deep fishing in my life. He assured me his crew would do their best to make my dream a reality.
The boat was clean and new and fast and the crew took me they would get me a marlin.
Leas than an hour into the trip I hooked onto a beautiful 9.5lbs dorado. As I reeled it in we saw another one that looked to be 30lbs or more swimming next to mine. We tried to hook it but it didn’t happen. But it was fun trying!
The crew of Omar and Derick showed me how to spot marlin at sea as well as sharks and other fish. It was great.
About four hours in we hooked onto a 100lbs striped marlin and I battled that thing for over 50minutes before feeling her into the boat!
My dream had come true! All because of Captain Juan, Omar and Derick.

Omar and Lucas were great!! We started out with a 5 hour trip, the day was beautiful and the water a little rough but not too bad.  About 15 minutes in started to see marlin jumping out of the water, hammerhead sharks, stingrays and all sorts of ocean life.  With all the action around us I figured we would have fish in the line in no time… Thatw as not the case.  Omar and Lucas worked hard to get the first fish in the line which was a baby mahi mahi, I reeled it in and ended up throwing it back, too small to keep and Omar had stated “we want the grandpa, not the baby” 🤣. About 30 minutes later out of nowhere, bam,  fish in the line!!  It was a great size mahi-mahi.  Next up my new friend (who I met diving the day before). Hooked a big needle fish.  We were coming to the end of our 5 hours and I was wanting to hook that marlin, so asked if we could extend the time?  We were to extend for another 2 hours ( for a small charge which I thought was very reasonable). About 15 minutes after extending our time , bam another fish on the line, this time it was a skip jack?  Omar and Lucas called it “Mexican tuna”.  As our additional 2 hours was coming to a close we were headed in and out of nowhere a striped marlin showed up swimming alongside our boat.  Immediately Omar and Lucas went to work getting live bait on the line and luring the marlin right behind us and bam marlin hit the bait and the fight was on.  About 1 hours later got that beautiful fish to the boat!  Amazing 8ft about 150lbs!!!  This was an epic day and can’t say enough about the crew and the effort they put in to make sure it was a great day.  Will definitely book again with El Pargo II next time I am in Cabo.

We did an 8 hour trip on 4/3 that we had booked with Captain Juan.  We ended up on a different boat, but a duplicate to the El Pargo II.  Not the primetime of year for fishing but Captain Lucas and his first mate worked hard to find fish for us.  We tried different areas mainly trolling but also stopped to drift fish for a while.  We ended up with a nice dorado, a bonita and a red snapper that Captain Tony’s cooked up for us that evening.  We also battled a couple sharks(landing one) that made for a great story.  I would definitely book again when I’m back in Cabo, we had a great time.

My wife and I went out with Captain Juan Cruz and his fine crew this morning and we had a great day of fishing. The guys were all ready to go when we showed up, everything was as advertised. Boat, bait, beer, food was all as promised.  These guys are an exceptional crew. Captain Juan got us going on fish early.  We already had a couple good dorado and a skipjack in the boat when we had a marlin hookup and my bucket list item became a reality!  Not sure how long the battle lasted, seemed like an hour but what fun.  Capt Juan said it was a 150 lbs so that’s my story.  We were able to release the fish safely so it was all good.  In any case, my next fishing days in Cabo will definitely be in the Pargo II with these guys.

Martín and Jorge were awesome. They were both very knowledge and had their system dialed. The boat was very organized and they kept the deck clean after any drop of fish blood or fish oil. Jorge was great on the rods and letting me assist, instead of sitting back and watching. I’m an avid angler myself so it’s hard to just watch. We ended up with some tuna, skip jack and a beautiful marlin. Would definitely hop in the boat with these two again.
