We trawled for 2 and a half hours and bagged a nice mahi mahi
Then went on to do some bottom fishing, really enjoyed the day and good crew, very attentive.

All of the booking process worked seamlessly which is important when you are in a foreign country.We were picked up at our hotel on time and taken to the boat where we met the crew.
The crew tried very hard to ensure we had a great day..The fishing wad slow but we did catch ....

It is very unfortunate for me to write this review as I usually don’t like to write negative reviews. However this trip was the most disappointing charter experience I ever had and I hope this won’t happen to anyone else. This was a charter trip that was highly anticipated as my family traveled a very long way from US to Bali for it. My family was planning a trip to Bali 6 months ago. I am a avid fisherman and loves to book fishing charters during my vacations. I have done many fishing charters like from different parts of Mexico, Caribbean Islands, Central America and United States. So after searching through FishingBooker and numerous communications with “Bali Fishing Trips” I decided to book with this charter. This was a fishing/Snorkeling trip my family was looking forward to for months since we were planning our trip to Bali. Unfortunately this trip turns out to be my most disappointed charter experience.  On the morning of the trip my family of 4 adults were picked up at our hotel and transported to the dock which was a very nice arrangement. An older gentleman greeted us at the dock and walked us through the process of completing some paperwork and collected the entire balance up front before we even see the boat. Then he took us to the boat and introduced us to a Captain & Co-Captain. We had a crew of 3 people with the older gentleman came along to help with setting up the fishing equipment. I am not sure if the older gentlemen was the mate, Manager or part-owner. He was friendly and did most of the talking. The Captain never spoke to us during the trip. I am not sure is because of language or he just doesn’t like to interact. The co-captain did not talk to us much either but he was very attentive when guiding us during snorkeling and stayed with us in the water the entire time. We pretty much communicate through the older gentleman the entire day. The waves were somewhat rough with cross wind and big rollers that day but the Captain handled the boat fairly well. As for the fishing we were very disappointed. We used the trolling method the entire trip as I wanted to target larger species. We use the same lures the entire trip without making any changes nor try live bait even we had no bite for hours. I have done many charters using trolling method and the Captains will try different things like changing lures, rigs and live baits to increase the chances of getting bites when action is slow. Using the same lures for the entire trip when we had no bite for hours is really lack of efforts and unacceptable in my opinion. We paid a good amount money in USD for this trip and honestly I feel extremely undervalue comparing to all the charter trips I have experienced. The only part my family enjoyed was the snorkeling session of this trip but our main focus was supposed to be fishing. I am a season fisherman and totally understands you don’t always catch on a fishing trip. However I feel the crew should have been better prepare and have make a better effort but trying different changing the lures, rigs, use live bait, etc. Also they didn’t even put the out riggers back out after the snorkeling session. So we reduced the number of lines in the water from 4 to 2 which reduced the chance of getting the bite by 50%. We did catch 2 small bonito at the end of this trip but the result could have been much better if the crew was better prepared and made better effort. By the way if language was the reason the Captain didn’t speak to us they should have let us know so we won’t feel so awkward. Frankly I was extremely disappointed when I saw the boat and the fishing equipment. The condition was much older than I expected. The boat looked wore with rust and paints coming off in some areas. The fishing equipment were very dated. The outriggers had to be put together by hand and put into the rod holder on the side of the boat instead of pre-installed on the boat and just swing out when used like ALL the other charters I have used.  I had communicated many times through the FishingBooker site with who I believe was the charter owner. I told him what species of fishes I want to target and clearly the crew was not prepare for it. Also my biggest issue was I told him I am taking my wife and 2 adult daughters on this trip who really won’t be fishing but want to enjoy sunbathing and the boat ride. I asked if there will have room for them to lay down to sunbath while we are fishing and It is very important to me as it is an 8 hours trip. And I was told YES there will be room for them to sunbath. The truth is here was absolutely no place for my wife and 2 adult daughters to lay down to sunbath outside nor laydown/sit inside comfortably. I would have never booked this charter if I was correctly informed about the space/condition of the boat and equipment. I honestly feel I was misled and I will not recommend this charter. Also this experience gives me second thoughts about booking charters through FishingBooker in the future.

It’s fishing so you are not guaranteed fish, we know that.  However, trolling for an hour when you have kids on board is an absolute waste of time.  The sea was rough, the kids were sick.  The boat was too small for 6 people and 3 crew.  The rods were old and barely working, and using prawns for bait is basic, not much effort, not going to catch a lot with prawns.  We ended up cutting the trip short because it was so cramped and no action.  A waste of $650.  There are no guarantees in life but for this amount of money you’d think they’d know where there were good fishing spots where you’re at least guaranteed the kids will at least catch a half decent size.  They knew in the morning the wind was high and the waves were big but they took us out anyway.  Better to cancel and try again on a better day than just hide behind the excuse of sometimes you just don’t catch anything.

The crew was very professional.  My son caught 8 small fish ( his first time), but unfortunately no Mai Mai.  We’ll try again next time!!
