I booked a deep-sea fishing trip with Rishi Excursions in Mauritius, and it was nothing short of outstanding.

Skipper Rishi put us onto big tuna within 15 minutes of arriving in the fishing area — an impressive display of local knowledge and instinct that immediately sets him apart. The equipment was top quality, modern, and immaculately maintained, clearly chosen by someone who takes their craft seriously.

The popping and jigging lures used were absolutely spot on and worked beautifully. While we didn’t get a marlin to take the trolling baits on this trip, the size and power of the tuna more than made up for it and made the experience unforgettable.

What really stood out was Rishi himself — highly professional, friendly, and genuinely passionate about fishing. He was more than happy to help, explain techniques, and share the little “secrets” that made the difference and produced results.

If you’re serious about fishing and want a skipper who knows these waters inside out, Rishi Excursions is a top-tier choice. An incredible day on the water, and I wouldn’t hesitate to book again. Highly recommended!

Les présentations sont faites, direction un DCP au large. Une fois sur place tentative au Jig, première touche au bout de 5’, et coupé, après plusieurs décrochés , enfin un thon de 25 kgs est remonté à bord. Moins de chance par la suite à la traîne, malgré les nombreuses chasses marquées par les oiseaux et la détermination de Rishi.
J’ai pris l’horaire du matin pour éviter la chaleur, mais il y a de quoi se mettre à l’ombre sur le bateau et des boissons à disposition.
Le matériel est varié et permet différentes techniques.
En résumé, belle sortie sur une mer calme, avec en toile de fond, d’un côté l’immensité de l’océan et de l’autre les contours de Maurice 🇲🇺.

When I booked the trip with Ricci, I was in the same place you might be right now: skeptical. I thought, “Here we go again – unmotivated guides, boring trolling all day and zero effort.” But it turned out to be the complete opposite.

Shortly after booking, I got a WhatsApp message and even a phone call from Ricci. No standard talk, no sales pitch – he genuinely wanted to know: What do you want to catch? How do you like to fish? What are your expectations? That’s when I knew he was serious about this. We made a plan together — and two weeks later, we put it into action.

We started at a spot that had produced well in the last few days. First, we went jigging — bang, three yellowfin tunas in the boat. When things slowed down, we switched to trolling small lures at 50 and later 100 meters. Result: another five yellowfins! Meanwhile, Ricci got info from a commercial fisherman that some blue marlins were moving into the area — no hesitation, he rigged up a trolling rod with a 60 cm yellowfin as bait right away.

What I’m trying to say is: Ricci gives EVERYTHING. He’s punctual, replies super fast, asks about your preferences and actually adapts to them. He’s one of the first on the water and even arranged his own taxi driver, much cheaper than any hotel taxi.

Rishie is an incredibly likeable and highly experienced angler.
We started our afternoon trip by trolling for Blue Marlin, before switching to tuna fishing. After briefly trying jigging, we immediately changed tactics and within minutes landed our first tuna. Shortly afterward, we hooked into the next tuna. However, just before reaching the boat, it was attacked so aggressively that the line snapped. Rishie instantly recognized that a marlin must have been hunting in the area.

We brought out the heavy rod and rigged it with the first caught tuna as natural bait. Just 10 seconds after casting the bait next to the boat, we witnessed a massive Blue Marlin shoot up and grab it. After a long fight, we were able to land the 200 kg (440 lb) Blue Marlin and bring it on board. Best fishing day ever!

After the catch, we continued fishing for about another 1.5 hours and managed to hook 5 more tunas and bonitos. Then, at our request, we headed back early so we could weigh the Blue Marlin and take photos while it was still light out.

I can highly recommend this trip not only because of the exceptional catch, but also because Rishie and the skipper are both extremely friendly and experienced. The results speak for themselves.

So was our honeymoon fishing trip. Rishi arranged to collection from the hotel. Everything was seamless. Got to boat and straight out on the water. Quick comfy boat with all the tackle for the day. Rishi and crew were friendly and knowledgeable. Got to the mark and were straight into fish. The fish continued until after sunrise. Then slower trolling pace of fishing as it was hard work jigging. Stayed on the fish the whole trip. Rishi provided drinks and was always chatting away giving information about Mauritius. Day sadly ended but a spot on snorkelling on the way in. I have fished in a few countries and Rishi is by far the best captain I have fished with. Of all the bots on the mark we hit the most fish. That says it all. Rishi and crew.
