    Action packed fishing experience

Full Day Trip – Fall2 adults

All around was a fantastic experience!! The captain and mate were very helpful, knowledgeable, and kind!! The captain worked to put us on the fish and gave us a smooth ride and even encouraged us when it was time to reel in the bigger fish! The first mate was exceptional and work his but off handing us the poles, getting us set up to reel, and making sure all the lines were bated and in the water!! The boat was wonderful and it was also nice knowing we had a cool place to go and sit to get out of the heat, as well as having bathroom facilities that were clean and accessible!!! We caught tons of fish and had the best time ever!!! The captain cleaned our fish and recommended a local restaurant that would cook our catch so we could enjoy it fresh!!! Will definitely be back for round 2 with Corsair II

Great Wahoo Fishing Trip with Corsair 2

    3/4 Day Trip (AM)3 adults

We had an outstanding day on the water aboard Corsair 2 out of Key West! We were fortunate to catch some great Wahoo, and the entire trip was an enjoyable experience from start to finish. Captain Jeff and first mate Stan were both extremely knowledgeable about the local waters and the Key West area. They knew exactly where to go and were happy to share information about local attractions and the area, which made the trip even more enjoyable. The boat, the fishing, and the crew all made for a fantastic day. If you’re looking for a great fishing experience in Key West, I highly recommend booking a trip on Corsair 2 with Captain Jeff and Stan. We had a memorable time and would definitely do it again!

Great Trip with a Great Crew

    3/4 Day Trip (AM)2 adults

I went fishing with Captain Russ, Jeff and Ryan and have nothing but good things to say. The location is easy to find and is in a nice area. Once at the marina, the crew was early, we were given a safety brief and spoke about rules for the boat and asked what our expectations were. The cabin was air conditioned and very comfortable to sit in. After we got the housekeeping out of the way, we shoved off and took a forty five minute ride to the fishing grounds. The boat was extremely comfortable and we shot the breeze with Ryan and Jeff who were easygoing, fun and personable guys. The Captain invited us up to the bridge for the ride, but we were comfortable in the cabin and did not take advantage. Once we got fishing, we had a fish on in the first ten minutes and landed a mahi. Throughout the day, we had a steady pick of mahi. Captain Russ was on the fish all day. We caught some shorts, lost some fish and had a big fish on (possible wahoo) that was lost by yours truly. At no point were we scolded or lectured, the crew just went back to catching fish. The end result was us keeping 9 mahi, which were eaten over the next three days by my friends. The Captain and crew made three great suggestions for cook your catch restaurants, but Kaya Island Eats was by far our favorite. I couldn't think of anything that the captain and crew could have done to make the trip better.

    FINtastic morning of tight lines!

    Half Day Trip3 adults

Captain Jeff and First Mate Craig were top notch! We booked only four hours in the morning, but we caught five gorgeous barracuda, a tiny bonito, a slippery mackerel, and the most delicious wahoo! I took my high school aged daughters and we had a blast! The waters were calms, the sky was partly cloudy, and both Jeff and Craig worked their butts off to keep us on the fish. I'd love to return during dorado (mahi-mahi season). Without hesitation, I'd go back out on the Corsair with Jeff and Craig. Some have noted the age of the boat. So what?! It's a huge boat with an airconditioned cabin and bathroom. Its the CREW that makes the difference and we LOVED the time we spent with Jeff and Craig. Capt Jeff filleted up our wahoo at the dock and we stuffed ourselves at a nearby "hook & cook" restaurant that prepared our fillets in several different ways. I am already planning a trip back to Key West next winter. I hope the Corsair, Jeff, and Craig are available again. Thanks!!!

    A Great Day Out

    Half Day Trip3 adults

Right from the start Captain Jeff and deckhand Stan worked to make our trip a good experience. Captain Jeff worked to find good areas and we had decent success, while Stan spent a lot of time talking fishing techniques with our 14 year old grandson. It was nice to be on a bigger boat with an air conditioned cabin and a marine head than one of the newer, smaller boats. Were we to charter again in Key West we would definitely use them.

February Fishing

Feb 3, 2025 • Key West
the school, which will drive them down. We usually catch them on small, light surface baits like dusters or small natural feathers. This time of year, blackfin tunas are our main catch. Once in a blue moon, we’ll catch a yellowfin. Yellowfin are extremely rare in Key West. Blackfin tunas can reach sizes of 40 pounds although most of them are 5-8 pounders, the size of a football. This is a great month to catch lots of blackfin tunas so bring the wasabi! Sailfish is the other main attraction here in Key West this month. This is a good month for sailfishing in Key West. While sailfish are here year round and can always be caught, the concentrated numbers of them bite best in winter through early spring. February is a GREAT month to catch sailfish, in fact, it’s one of the best months of the year. The cooler temperatures of February get the sailfish really lit up and aggressive. The stronger easterly winds of February also help the sailfish action and allows us to do a lot more kite fishing. Kite fishing allows us to go out and present live baits right on the surface of the water and keep them right on the current edge. This is a very effective technique to catch sailfish and although they are never guaranteed, you won’t find better conditions for sailfishing any month of the year. Sailfish are the most sought after gamefish in the entire world and anglers come from all around the world to catch these magnificent billfish. The most awesome thing about sailfish other than their colors and beauty, is the spectacular aerial display they put on during their fight. They jump out of the water like no other fish and take sudden fast runs throughout the battle. If you’ve never caught a sailfish before, it’s a rush like no other. Many other species bite well in February in Key Wst but these top… wahoo, tuna and sailfish are what makes February famous for one of the best months of the year to go fishing in Key West . Some of the other fish that are possible this month are amberjacks and groupers around the wrecks, mahi-mahi are sometimes biting, kingfish and barracudas on the reef and lastly, huge sharks begin making their run down out coastline this month. The shark migration that begins in February and end in late June is truly epic, but is the topic for future fishing report. Good luck to everyone fishing this month. Tight Lines and Let’s Go Fishing
