If you're looking for some of the best fishing that money can buy out of Key West, Florida, you can't go wrong with Corsair 2 Sportfishing. With over 3 decades of local fishing experience under his belt, Captains Russ McKinley or Jeff Rohland should be your choice if you want to get the best out of these deep blue waters.
His boat is a 50' Hatteras saltwater fishing boat that can take up to 6 anglers fishing at the same time. Powered by twin 550 HP Detroit Diesel engines, this fishing machine is unstoppable on the water.
The vessel comes rigged with state-of-the-art navigational electronics and safety equipment, outriggers, a fighting chair, a live bait tank, and ice-boxes. It's also very comfortable and features 2 private restrooms, a kitchen, a flybridge, beds, and AC.
This beauty can take you for some amazing deep sea and reef fishing up to 25 miles offshore on full day trips. These trips will also provide higher chances of catching Marlin! If you book a half day trip, you'll be fishing in a 6–12 mile range. Depending on the package and the bite, your target list will include Mahi Mahi, Blackfin Tuna, Wahoo,King Mackerel,Sailfish, Marlin, Snapper, Grouper, and many other attractive species.
Corsair 2 Sportfishing will provide the finest fishing gear and lures. You'll get a chance to catch your own bait on the way to the most productive fisheries. The first mate will gladly clean your catch and help you with everything you need, so 20% gratuity for his efforts is customary. Feel free to bring any snacks and drinks to be stored in the onboard cooler. Also, bring sunscreen and hats.

Great Trip with a Great Crew

I went fishing with Captain Russ, Jeff and Ryan and have nothing but good things to say. The location is easy to find and is in a nice area. Once at the marina, the crew was early, we were given a safety brief and spoke about rules for the boat and asked what our expectations were. The cabin was air conditioned and very comfortable to sit in.
After we got the housekeeping out of the way, we shoved off and took a forty five minute ride to the fishing grounds. The boat was extremely comfortable and we shot the breeze with Ryan and Jeff who were easygoing, fun and personable guys. The Captain invited us up to the bridge for the ride, but we were comfortable in the cabin and did not take advantage.
Once we got fishing, we had a fish on in the first ten minutes and landed a mahi. Throughout the day, we had a steady pick of mahi. Captain Russ was on the fish all day. We caught some shorts, lost some fish and had a big fish on (possible wahoo) that was lost by yours truly. At no point were we scolded or lectured, the crew just went back to catching fish.
The end result was us keeping 9 mahi, which were eaten over the next three days by my friends. The Captain and crew made three great suggestions for cook your catch restaurants, but Kaya Island Eats was by far our favorite. I couldn't think of anything that the captain and crew could have done to make the trip better.

FINtastic morning of tight lines!
Half Day Trip on March 14, 2026 • 3 adults
Captain Jeff and First Mate Craig were top notch! We booked only four hours in the morning, but we caught five gorgeous barracuda, a tiny bonito, a slippery mackerel, and the most delicious wahoo! I took my high school aged daughters and we had a blast! The waters were calms, the sky was partly cloudy, and both Jeff and Craig worked their butts off to keep us on the fish. I'd love to return during dorado (mahi-mahi season). Without hesitation, I'd go back out on the Corsair with Jeff and Craig. Some have noted the age of the boat. So what?! It's a huge boat with an airconditioned cabin and bathroom. Its the CREW that makes the difference and we LOVED the time we spent with Jeff and Craig. Capt Jeff filleted up our wahoo at the dock and we stuffed ourselves at a nearby "hook & cook" restaurant that prepared our fillets in several different ways. I am already planning a trip back to Key West next winter. I hope the Corsair, Jeff, and Craig are available again. Thanks!!!

nice surprise mahi-mahi!

i was hoping to catch mahi-mahi and tuna for this trip. it turned out i caught a 43” bull mahi and we got a few more cow mahis. a very nice yellow jack. a few barracudas, and mackeral. wish we could get some tuna though. oh well, it gives us ab excuse to come back again! captain Russ is very professional. deck hand stan truly works hard. he kept an eye out for every lines out there. very friendly and low key. we enjoyed the trp very much!

Nice Day for a Boat ride!
Half Day Trip – Fall on September 8, 2025 • 2 adults
We booked our charter in September. We knew it was a slow time of season but we chose Corsair based on price and reviews. Captain Russ and his first mate were very kind and professional. Very informative. We had a slow day of fishing but two very exciting catches! One half eaten macrol, bitten by a shark on the way in, and the catch of the day went to the sailfish! When we hooked the sailfish, they acted quickly and efficiently to bring it to the boat safely. It was a catch and release, but they worked diligently to get it on board and measured so we coukd have it mounted for the trophy wall. They were also very parient getting it back into the water properly and ensuring its safe release. What a great experience!! Will definitely book with this charter again. Thank you!

Great boat, phenomenal crew, for the best day of our lices

I'm going to start with being from Pennsylvania, we have no idea what we were doing or getting into.. before hand the Captain and hand made sure we knew what do, what paths to the gear to stay clear of, etc...the ride out there was beautiful we seen a dolphin, too quick for pictures and a 12 foot hammerhead on the way out, really freaking cool..just about out to where we started tossing gear we were passing some beautiful jellyfish..got to the spot and it did not take long at all, my brother Dan was in the fighting chair with what we did y know at the time, a sizable barracuda, to us it was huge and he had so much fun fighting it, then it was my turn..started seeing a bunch of flying fish, which was a sight to see on its own..then it began! Mahi mahi man the fish we wanted to really get out of the few that we targeted... Absolutely gorgeous fish, I had watched so many fishing videos and only dreamt of catching mahi mahi.. beautiful bull, all in all we brought 4 beautiful mahi home and it was so very much worth the money! Money well freaking spent! 100/10 would do it again with this crew
