I have been a lifelong commercial potato grower stuck in fisherman's body. I've finally retired from farming, and I am now able to dedicate my time to my real passion and calling. I have fished in brooks and streams and oceans. Maine, Florida and the Keys enjoying the thrill of many species. plus 40 years of experience on Baskahegan Lake. This is a very rocky lake and can be tricky to navigate. I have used auto charting to map a large portion of this lake, which does not have detail charts or maps available in digital form.. this allows for precise boat placement and safety . Our fishing platform is no less than the best on the lake for comfort, stability, and protection in all weather. We aim to deliver Bass Pro performance with charter comfort. Maine biologists have been working diligently and it seems to be paying off. Our small mouths are getting bulkier every year with alewives and smelt as a rising food source. Also, the scenery is exquisite with vistas in every direction. With very little competition from other anglers there are times when I will be the only boat on the water and sometimes for days. We also offer the only dock access(private or public)on this waterbody as well as a rental cabin close by.

    May fishing trip

    Full Day Trip

Wade was an awesome guide that provided a great day of fishing on Baskahegan Lake. He has a top notch boat and modern equipment with knowledge of the lake from a lifetime of experience. The weather was tough with a lot of wind but Wade was able to put us on the fish despite the challenging conditions. It was a great day overall landing over 25 fish.

    Reported catch:
    Smallmouth Bass
    Chain Pickerel

    Fabulous fishing day!

    Full Day Trip

Wade cautioned us before starting out that the lunar cycle and weather conditions this day probably would limit the fishing hits. I'd like to see what a good day produces! We landed 31 great fish (two people fishing) in the morning! Bass and pickerel. We were just grinning from ear to ear the entire time. I've done a lot of fishing in Maine, but this was by far the best day. I think I can attribute that to Wade's knowledge of the fish and the lake. The lake is amazingly treacherous - lots of rocks and shoals in very unexpected places (don't even think about taking you boat here unless you know where you are going and go slow!). Wade has been mapping the lake for years and showed us some of the fascinating topography under the surface. He took us around the lake, the sonar showing various structures including glacial deep holes - and the fish lurking there. The lake is also very big and windy (be careful if you think you want to canoe on it) - which can affect the fishing, but Wade knows his way around that and we had no problem with it. I can't say enough about Wade (I sound like a salesman), the man is exceptionally knowledgeable about fishing and the lake, but also just plain congenial and friendly - and very open to sharing his understanding of fishing and the lake. You can't go wrong here. 31 fish on supposedly a "bad" day proves that! Peter Hunt

Thank you so much Peter for your kind words. A group like yours makes it way too easy. I’m thrilled that you had a great trip and we have set some new goals for next time.. lofty as they may be ..looking forward to sharing more knowledge of the lake and telling some stories.

Wade will get you to the fish and share a story or two along the way!

    Half Day Trip (PM)

Had an amazing time on the boat with Wade! He certainly knows the lake and is excited to share its secrets and beauty. Matching my preference for fishing the surface with the wind direction and time of day, it wasn't long before we hit consistent action with some smallies. Wade and I hit multiple sites over the afternoon and each had unique bottom structure that proved key to hooking up to some nice size bass. While great for smallies, the lake is generally very shallow... I was glad Wade was navigating and not me! Hope to be back to get a full day in so I can see what the morning action is like!

Thanks for those kind words Mr. Mike, it’s always a great time hanging out with you and your brother, always sad to see it end. Glad you enjoyed your time. Looking forward to seeing you again again. Awesome pic by the way.

Half Day Trip with Captain Wade

    Half Day Trip (PM)

I’m not the most experienced of fisherman and I’ve been wanting to learn and hit the waters all summer long and I’m so glad I finally pulled the trigger on this fishing trip. Captain Wade is very knowledgeable of baskahegan lake, the fish and their feeding times, and is an excellent fisherman himself. He taught me a lot and we had a great time. He’s a wicked funny guy and I can’t recommend him enough. I’ll definitely be back for another fishing trip. (Also the AirBNB he rents out was pretty solid and was right down the road from where we launched. Very cozy)

    Reported catch:
    White Perch
    Response from Captain

thanks so much Ryan, I had an excellent time with the both of you and I’m looking forward to seeing you back. That nighttime trip was wild stuff for sure. Definitely some Jurassic Park moments.

Great Start to the Season

May 22, 2026 • Topsfield
The weather was cold and so was the water but with a little bit of finesse, there are some big boys and girls hitting and they’re not even on their beds yet. The introduction of alewives maybe a contributing factor to some chunky fish starting to establish population. Multiple 2 1/2 pounders and 3 over 3 pounds so far in less than three days of fishing.

High Activity For Sure!!!

Sep 15, 2025 • Topsfield
In the calm the bass were surface feeding or “gorging” on alewive hatchlings and pickerel were bathing in the sun on the rocky points. No monster bass in thus run but the pickerel were definately beefy!!

Insane White Perch Bite

Aug 28, 2025 • Topsfield
Have been offering a modified afternoon trip, the target is 5:30 PM till dark or a little after. Focused on the deeper holes next to structure. Massive schools of white perch as well as nighttime hunters. It’s a spooky good time.

Smasher

Beautiful weather trip, fish were finicky, lure selection was key…white perch are showing up in the deep hole whereas the big bass are chasing Alewive hatchlings right out of the water. Casted into the center of a fleeing group and nailed this big guy.

Evening 6 pm launch, deephole on the backside of the lake. Bite hit around 7 ish. Nothing showing on the finder as they were hovering behind the boat at 4 feet depth. Fast as you can catch and rebait. 2 pounders we call humpbacks are coming.

Jul 17, 2025 • Topsfield
Three day trip before the rains sat in again. Water is normal depth for this time of year. Didn’t see much top water activity.. strong winds, bigger Fisher deeper except in the early a.m. hours. Tiny white perch, blanketing the bottom of the deep holes.. some predatory action from large chain pickerel . Sizable fallfish as well
