- Background
- I have been fishing Lake Erie Islands for 35+ years. My father and I fished small streams and ponds when I was a young boy. As my interest grew, we grew our fishing experiences together eventually ending up targeting Lake Erie Walleye. We started in small boats and worked our way into tournaments. Competitive fishing changes your viewpoint on finding fish that will bite on any given day. You learn to adapt to the daily conditions. I have been first mating on boats for 25+ years. I enjoyed fishing and sharing my experiences with others each day.
- Techniques
- Lake Erie Walleye roam the open waters following the baitfish. We target these roaming Walleye with a trolling presentation that allows us to place baits at strategic depths where the Walleye are feeding. Our trolling methods are very precise and and we can repeat presentations allowing our guests to catch Walleye at the best possible rate. Tournament fishing has exposed me to adapting to hourly changes on the water. Attention to these details transfers into my customers success. Drift and Casting worm harnesses is also a very productive and fun method to catch Walleye. Many prefer the drift and cast methods. It does require that you make repetitive casts to entice the Walleye to take your presentation. If you enjoy the hands-on feeling of a Walleye striking your lure, Drift and Casting might be just what you want. We will teach you how to and explain why we do things certain ways to maximize or catch rate. Expect a hands-on experience, when aboard BlackH2oDog. Tight Lines
