Our recent charter with Good Hit Sport Fishing turned into a day that none of us will ever forget. We had the pleasure of hosting 12 year old Noah VanAmeyden and his family, who traveled all the way from West Michigan to experience the world class fishing here in Fort Lauderdale. What started as a quest for some South Florida action quickly transformed into a historic event. The Battle of a Lifetime Not long into the trip, Noah hooked into something that clearly outmatched the typical local catch. This was not just another fish on the line. It was a massive, powerful predator that pushed the young angler to his limits. For 45 minutes, Noah displayed incredible skill and stamina, fighting a fish that many grown men would struggle to land. As the fish finally neared the surface, the crew and family were stunned to identify it. Noah had managed to reel in a Great White Shark. A Rare South Florida Moment Seeing a Great White off the coast of Fort Lauderdale is an exceptionally rare occurrence. These legendary apex predators are not common sights in our local waters, making Noahโ€™s achievement even more impressive. After confirming the species and sharing a moment of pure disbelief and excitement, the shark was safely released to continue its journey through the Atlantic. Noahโ€™s composure during such a high stakes battle was a privilege to witness. It is not every day that a 12 year old goes home with a story that makes national headlines.

Spring Fishing Report: Port Everglades t
Spring Fishing Report: Port Everglades t
Mar 27, 2026 Fort Lauderdale
The turn from March into April has brought a diverse range of species to the docks of Good Hit Sport Fishing. Our recent trips have spanned from the calm waters of the Intracoastal to the deep blue of the Gulf Stream, proving that the spring run is officially in high gear. Recent Action Highlights Intracoastal: A massive Goliath Grouper provided a heavy tackle battle just minutes from the dock. Nearshore: Hammerhead Sharks have been active just off the coast, offering incredible power for anglers seeking a challenge. Offshore: Sailfish remain a consistent staple of our daily trips, with steady numbers being caught on the kite. The Stream: We are starting to see the Mahi Mahi move in as the warm waters of the Gulf Stream push closer to the reef. The Advantage of Location and Speed: When you fish with Good Hit Sport Fishing, your time is spent fishing rather than commuting. Our center console is located immediately outside of Port Everglades, giving us the fastest access to the ocean in the region. We get you on the fish faster by eliminating long runs through slow speed zones. Whether the bite is on the reef or miles offshore in the stream, our proximity to the inlet means more time with lines in the water and less time in transit. Experience the Conch 330: Our recent success has been fueled by the newest addition to our fleet: the Conch 330. This vessel is a legendary offshore platform, known for its ability to handle rougher spring seas while maintaining a stable, dry ride. The Conch 330 is designed for 360 degree fishability, allowing us to manage multiple hookups simultaneously. With a fast cruise speed and a layout optimized for professional kite fishing and trolling, it is the ultimate tool for South Florida angling. You can get in on the April bite by booking your trip today. From the backwaters to the blue water, we have the gear and the location to make it happen.

Legendary Action: 11 Sailfish Released o
Legendary Action: 11 Sailfish Released o

The early March bite is officially on fire. We just wrapped up a trip that most anglers only see once in a lifetime, going 11 for 14 on Sailfish right here in Fort Lauderdale. Redefining a Great Day In these waters, a productive winter trip usually means a handful of shots. Landing 11 in a single outing is a massive statistical anomaly and the kind of action usually reserved for top tier tournament leaderboards. The conditions were perfect, but having the right vessel was the key to converting those bites into successful releases. Dominating the Edge with the 2026 Conch 330 Our brand new 2026 Conch 330 is proving to be the ultimate fishing machine for the South Florida coast. This boat was built for high stakes offshore work, and it showed its teeth during this run: 900 Horsepower Performance: With triple V8 300hp outboards, we have a holeshot that gets us to the fishing grounds in record time. Less travel means more time with the kites in the air. Massive Livewell Capacity: Keeping goggle eyes fresh and lively is critical for March sails. Our setup ensured every bait looked like a winner. The Tower Advantage: Our custom tower allowed us to spot tailing fish and sailfish showers from a distance, giving us the jump on the schools before they even crossed our spread. Deck Efficiency: With over 60 rod holders, we managed a complex spread with zero tangles, even when multiple fish were screaming line simultaneously. The Good Hit Advantage As the closest marina to the inlet, Good Hit Sport Fishing is often the first boat to find the fish. Whether you are a pro or a first timer, our mission is to turn every passenger into a fishing legend. With the sailfish bite peaking and mahi-mahi starting to move in with the east winds, now is the time to get on the water. Ready to experience a record breaking day? Book your next 6, 8, or 10 hour charter with us and see what the new Conch 330 can really do.

Fort Lauderdale Fishing Update: Heavywei
Fort Lauderdale Fishing Update: Heavywei
Jan 8, 2026 Fort Lauderdale
In the world of South Florida charter fishing, there is a common misconception that you have to run for hours or book an all-day excursion to find "the big one." This past week, the crew at Good Hit Sport Fishing proved once again that Fort Lauderdaleโ€™s unique geographyโ€”where the Gulf Stream hugs the coastโ€”offers world-class opportunities just minutes from the inlet. The Bottom-Dweller: A Record-Class Cubera The week kicked off with a 4-hour wreck trip that turned into a heavyweight wrestling match. Targeting the deep structures that dot our coastline, the team hooked into a massive Cubera Snapper. Known as the "heavyweights of the reef," Cuberas are notoriously difficult to land due to their power and tendency to dive into sharp wreckage. This particular fish was a true specimen, showing off the characteristic copper scales and formidable teeth that make them a "bucket-list" catch for any serious angler. Successfully bringing a fish of this caliber to the boat on a half-day trip requires precision boat handling and heavy-duty gear. Surface Aerobatics: The White Marlin The diversity of our local waters was on full display just days later. On a separate 4-hour morning charter, the focus shifted from the bottom to the surface. While trolling the blue water edge, the team was met with the high-speed strike of a White Marlin. The Marlin put on a classic display of "greyhounding," leaping clear of the water and testing the anglerโ€™s patience. These billfish are a prized catch in the sportfishing community, and seeing one within sight of the shoreline is a reminder of why Fort Lauderdale remains a premier fishing destination. After a successful battle, the fish was safely released to continue its migration. A Thriving Local Bite Between the brute strength of the Cubera and the elegance of the White Marlin, the message is clear: the bite is on. With the current conditions bringing baitfish close to the reef, the window for trophy catches is wide open. Good Hit Sport Fishing continues to run daily 4, 6, and 8-hour charters out of Fort Lauderdale, catering to everyone from first-timers to seasoned pros looking for their next big story.
