Captain Mike and Jon split the boat… So it creates great flexibility for being able to go out consistently. On this adventure we had captain Mike…there was a recent cold front that caused the fishing to be a little challenging, but he was working with some of his captain friends who helped us find fish, and we had a blast. He’s just a fun guy to hang out with on the boat. My son had a ball. He even let him help clean the fish and taught him how to use an electric fillet knife. My son thought it was super cool.

We were told by the friend who let us use their house that the fishing isn’t great on Lake Michigan yet so don’t bother but my son LOVES fishing so we had to try. We messaged three different boats and finally found John who could take us out. We messaged back and forth a couple of times because of the potentially strong waves and I confessed I was bringing children and they wanted to not leave anyone in the lake and make sure that we knew it was going to be rough. It was rough but so worth it! Captain John was such a kind captain and great with the kids! His wife usually is on the boat we learned but she had work to do so a friends 16 year old son (Will) was first mate and he was a huge help. We ended up with 12 fish (more than the other boats around us) and really had a swell time. I hesitate to post this good review bc I would love to go out with them again and I don’t want them to be too busy to take us again but I do feel like everyone should know what a great charter it was!

Highly recommend this charter! Captain was fantastic, wind was pretty significant but captain Jon kept us vertical and jigging at all times. Found walleye in all the spots he took us! Equipment he provided was great and we had a fantastic time on the river. Have taken other charters, this was by far the best. Marina his boat is at has plenty of parking and very clean restrooms.

The captain and mate were both great, knowledgeable and fun guys.  They helped as needed but were not over bearing.  We had a great morning on the water and look forward to fishing with them again.

Although we did not haul in a lot of fish, Jon and Will did their best to get on the fish. They were very skilled and efficient. They worked extremely well together. Both were very personable and kept the time upbeat with their enthusiasm and Capt Jon’s music selections. I would highly recommend booking Capt Jon and Michigan Charters for your trip.
