Captain Ian and his King Triton made for an enjoyable morning for us. My thirteen year old son, Bryson, caught the first fish of the day, a beautiful Paralabrax clathratus, (calico bass). With the high tech sonar system on board and knowledge of the area, Captain Ian was able to take us to where the fish were. The fish had no chance. His first mate Steve made sure the hooks had bait and helped bring in the catch. We even saw some sea lions. The mammals expertly took the bait just below the hook. They knew exactly what to do but they were fun to watch.

Afterwards, Steve expertly butchered the fish and we ended up keeping about 5 pounds of beautiful bass and bonito filets. Later that day I hickory smoked the bonito, sauteed the bass (salt, pepper, a squeeze of lemon) and vacuum packed the rest in the freezer enjoy in a few weeks.

I highly recommend spending a day with Captain Ian.

Boat easily handled our group of six. Indoor seating, two levels, restroom on board. Very professional and fun captain. Everyone from age 10 to 76 had a blast. Incredible experience out in nature out at the kelp beds with enormous sea lions circling and grabbing the barracuda we reeled in. Kept two large calico bass and a mackerel, threw back at least a dozen more. Highly recommended.

I spent alot of time trying to book our annual trip again and couldn’t have picked a better boat and crew. Ian and Mick did a phenomenal job for us and put us on fish throughout our trip. Ian was great from initial booking til the end of the trip, he is highly efficient, knowledgeable, and professional. We learned quite about about the fishing in the area, caught fish, and had a great day. The boat was comfortable and well kept. Would highly recommend!
