I have been fishing a variety of lakes and rivers in Northern California since i was a kid in the 1970's. I have built my fishing team from a group of family and friends starting in 2001 to fish in local derbies and tournaments. We started out by donating our time to local groups to get kids fishing as well as veterans on the water also. in 2011 I started the guide service to officially be able to take guests out fishing on the lakes. In 2013, the addition of being licensed as a Captain with OUPV (6 pack) credentials for tidal waters was obtained. After a couple of years, I was able to take and pass the Near Coastal credentials for running passengers up to 100 miles offshore as well.
My personal and career background includes being licensed as a Paramedic. Having worked both Fire and Ambulance for many years, allows me to be comfortable in handling any unforseen circumstances that may arise also. I pride myself on providing a safe, and fun, family-friendly environment on the boat for a day. Please contact me for a fun filled adventure and let's go fishing!

Half Day AM — King Salmon Private G • 2 adultsWe had an incredible day King Salmon fishing on the Delta with Captain Doug McArthur of Team Mc Fishing Guide Service. My coworker and I both landed 17-pound King Salmon - this was my very first salmon catch ever, and it's an experience I won't forget! Captain Doug's passion for what he does is obvious from the moment you step on the boat. He was determined and wouldn't stop until we both landed our fish. Along the way, I learned so much about King Salmon fishing techniques on the Delta - he's clearly knowledgeable and loves sharing that with his clients. The customer service was top-notch from start to finish, and the whole day felt perfectly run. If you're looking for a guide who's skilled, patient, and genuinely invested in making sure you have a great trip, look no further. Full Day — Delta Stripers Private G • 1 adultCapt Doug was determined to get us into feeding fish! We trolled, jigged and anchored! He was willing to do what was needed without forcing a predetermined method. I finished the day with 7 stripers and 4 catfish!! Thankyou Doug for guiding me to my completion of catching a fish in all 50 states! Catching a striper in the delta has been a goal for a while now. Hope to see you in Michigan, just let me know your species choice, we will make it happen. Capt Doug was an exceptional guide, skill, knowledge, friendly, sense of humor, flexibility! I highly recommend team Mcfishing for your delta fishing experience! Also, it was a sweltering 102° and we were still successful

Full Day — Delta Stripers Shared PPI consider myself a knowledgeable and experienced angler as I have spent most of my life enjoying a variety of fishing. From the lakes and streams of the Rockys and Sierra Nevadas targeting native species of trout, flipping lures in Gold County ponds in hopes to fight a springtime largemouth bass or Crappie, to trolling in the ocean for king salmon. I know my way around a rod and reel to say the least. In my travels I have come in contact with only a few that see the outdoors through a similar lens as I. Living in the age of technology, it is easy to get sucked into the opinions of others and make the sport so competitive that it has become more of a status symbol and an opportunity to sell product than enjoying a nice day on the water. I started the day fishing with a man with 2 young boys I had never met and left the dock as friends. I learned some new tricks to make me more successful while targeting stripers and restored my hope that there are a few others still around that enjoy the entire experience of a good day on the water, and not just when the reel is screaming with a hog on the other end of the line, which in fact were did our fair share of that as well. Capt. McArthur thank you for getting me on board at the last minute and showing us all a great day. Thank you for showing the next generation of sportsman what it's really all about. I would highly recommend booking a trip!

River Kings: 17 lb Salmon Saved

Water temps are still in the 67° range. We spent the day looking for pods of Salmon pushing up the river. Normally the incoming tide is our favorite time to catch them. Today at the very end of the incoming, we found the best school of the day. We dropped on them and within 15 minutes, we landed 2 of these 17 pound Salmon. They are coming in better and better every week with the dropping water temps. We will be fishing on the river for King Salmon until December 16th when the season closes.

18.5 lb Salmon Trolled Amid Traffic

Water temps dropped into the mid 67° range. Holiday boat traffic was heavy and lots of Salmon trolling going on. We saw and heard of several Salmon being caught, and we hit the troll lanes fast. We hooked into an 18.5 pound Salmon within the first half hour. We spent the rest of the day chasing marks on the sonar and dodging heavy boat traffic. We only came out with one Salmon for the day, but it was a personal best for our happy client!

Shaker Striper Action on Sacramento

Water temps on the Sacramento River near Rio Vista have fallen to just under 69°. With the recent full moon and water temps coming down, the fish will continue to move in. We are seeing allot of fish on sonar and getting allot of shaker bites on Stripers. Salmon should improve with these changing conditions and cooler water. We are booked up for most of September, but have plenty of open days still going into October. Today's trip was more shaker Striper and no Salmon strikes in the few hours we had to fish.

Trolling for Salmon; Shaker Stripers

This weekend was windy on Saturday, a little less on Sunday. Lots of weeds and grass in the water. We trolled for salmon both mornings and waited for the incoming tide in the afternoon. Only heard of a couple of salmon caught by a couple of different boats this weekend.
Water temps were between 71-72° on the Sacramento River near Rio Vista. We have been marking allot of fish on our sonar in the area as well. Saturday afternoon we decided to find some cleaner water and catch some shaker Stripers up to 16 inches for a bit. Water temps and temps in general are cooling down this coming week. We will be back out in a few days checking on conditions again and will continue to report our findings.

Searching for River Kings; Striper Bite

Spent the morning searching for some river run King salmon. We ran through our normal areas and routine and still haven't found them to be pushing in heavy yet. We heard of at least 1 caught nearby, but there were only a few other boats in the area near us. Water temps are still 71-73°. We are getting another full moon soon, which will push more fish into the system afterwards. We spent the afternoon looking for some Stripers and found about 20 smaller sized fish and a bonus catfish on cut baits. We will be back out again this Friday for another search for the kings and will post our findings afterwards.

Schoolie Stripers on Sacramento River

Still a warm day, not as hot as a few days ago though. Water temps dropped a few degrees on the Sacramento River side. Marked some fish on the graph and finally some some schoolie stripers to play with. Salmon are still slow in the lower river until the water temps fall a little more. We will be out looking for the changing conditions and will report what we find.
