Background
I have been fishing a variety of lakes and rivers in Northern California since i was a kid in the 1970's. I have built my fishing team from a group of family and friends starting in 2001 to fish in local derbies and tournaments. We started out by donating our time to local groups to get kids fishing as well as veterans on the water also. in 2011 I started the guide service to officially be able to take guests out fishing on the lakes. In 2013, the addition of being licensed as a Captain with OUPV (6 pack) credentials for tidal waters was obtained. After a couple of years, I was able to take and pass the Near Coastal credentials for running passengers up to 100 miles offshore as well. My personal and career background includes being licensed as a Paramedic. Having worked both Fire and Ambulance for many years, allows me to be comfortable in handling any unforseen circumstances that may arise also. I pride myself on providing a safe, and fun, family-friendly environment on the boat for a day. Please contact me for a fun filled adventure and let's go fishing!

Salmon Season Starting Off Warm, Water T

Started off the morning doing a search pattern on the old Salmon grounds above the Rio Vista bridge. Water temps on the surface were right at 73 degrees and stayed there for the day. Water had some grass and weeds in it but not too bad. We were able to mark some fish down along the bottom channel and the deeper holes. We ran a few downstream trolling patterns using our old trusty Scorpion Salmon Spinners that we designed years ago for Shasta Tackle. We were using the 3 way dropper weights to bounce close to the bottom with the spinners. We headed up a narrow section of the river looking for fish hopefully stacking up in the holes and deeper channels and didn't mark hardly any fish at all. We moved back into the main river and started dropping P Line Laser Minnows on the few schools of fish we found suspended and hooked into some shaker sized Stripers. We ended the day and headed back to the docks to clean up the boat and get things put away for the busy weekend we had planned off the water. After speaking with our guests on Saturday, they informed us the water temps were reading a little lower than Friday on our boat. They did report working the river for the morning and not finding any fish on Saturday on their own boat. We will be back on the water this week tracking water temps and following the fish migrating up river. 1 week into the opening of the season and we are seeing scattered reports of fish all up and down our rivers. Our boat is getting serviced currently and will running our first Salmon trip of the season very soon. We have a full 5 month long season, with 2 fish per person, per day limit. We are getting allot of dates booked up and will be running private trips and open seat trips. If you want to book a trip and have less than the 3 person minimum, contact us directly. We can setup a day to add you in as a solo or double and then leave it open to allow other solo anglers to join us. We will also carry additional gear on board to switch over for Striper trolling if we get limits of Salmon early in the trip. If you book a full Day, we will take you fishing for the full day. If you have any questions prior to booking, simply send a message so we can assist you in booking a great day on the water.

Today's charter started off right at high tide before the outgoing started. We marked scattered fish and had several strikes trolling A rigs. They were hitting the dummy teasers on the A rigs. We boated our first 20 inch fish pretty quickly. After making another move to search for more fish, we continued to get strikes on A rigs and trolling minnows from Snagum n Bagum custom tackle. After making a move to another slough and finding more marks on the sonar and getting more teaser strikes, we made it happen. Our young men we had on board hit a 7 pound 11 ounce striper. We got a bright healthy male striper over the rail and big smiles all around. We continued to troll got a few hours and even dropped cut baits on a school of fish. Cut bait produced multiple shaker like bites and the tide was really slowing down now. We made one more trolling pass and called it a day. We came back to the marina, cleaned a couple of nice healthy fish and sent our guests home with fresh fish for dinner. Water temps in the Mokolumne River were 65-67° We specialize in getting families on the water and provide a safe, fun environment for kids to catch their first fish!

Started out the morning checking on some of the places we most recently caught lots of fish. The temperatures came up to a high of 89° for the day. Water temps that were nid 50s just a couple of weeks ago were between 63-67° in our regular spots. We marked allot of scattered fish throughout both sides of the rivers. We started on the San Joaquin side and after a couple hours of working a couple of spots, we moved to the Sacramento river side. We used everything from cut sardines, to trolling the normal stick baits from snagum n Bagum custom tackle. In between we ran A rigs from snagum and even threw glide baits they just custom painted for this trip. After working several spots and using a variety of techniques, we called it for the day with the first skunk in many months. We did get some reliable Intel from other boats on the river that were way upriver from us and found cooler water and a handful of fish. We will be back on the water for a charter next Monday and will update our findings after that trip as well. We are always thankful to our favorite photographer, Delta Demi for getting photos from her bridge for us.

Started off the morning heading to one of our spots above the Antioch bridge. 51° water temps and fish on the screen holding off into deeper water. We fished right off the edge of shallow shoals of about 8 feet and dropped bait into 30 feet of water. We were waiting for the end of the incoming tide and picked up fish before the third rod hit the water. Several fish caught up to 18 inches using cut sardines. Once the tide slowed enough to make a move to the next location, we pulled anchor and headed upriver. We dropped into our second spot that was loaded with marks on the screen. While everyone is waiting for the Spring Striper run we have been finding Winter fish on every trip the past couple of months. We fished this second spot for a couple of hours once the outgoing tide picked up. We caught over 40 fish for the day, and even though allot of fish were just a few inches short of 18 inches, our guests for the day were happy to catch and release everything that we caught. By the time we literally were running low on bait, they ended up keeping 3 of the fish that didn't make it during the fight. Biggest fish went just a couple of ounces under 7 pounds and will make great meals none the less. We will be running live bait drifting trips this spring and are currently updating the calendar with dates as other bookings become unavailable here. The morning drive up to the lake was foggy, and the lake was clear until afternoon when half the lake was foggy. We started out with lines in the water about 9 am and had well over a dozen releases on the downrigger and strikes with the 5th Trout in the box by 12:10pm. We fished for the second limit for a couple more hours with more strikes that didn't stick. Water temps in Don Pedro was 56° surface temp and the lake is nearly full after the recent rains. We had nearly every strike on the Macks lures uv fishscale Cripplure on 3 of the 4 lines out. We did get a couple of strikes on a small Rapala floating minnow trolled on the surface with a 1 ounce drift weight inline. Trolling speed at 2.2 mph up towards the back of the lake near the power lines. The fish are not marking on the screen because they are shallow. We only marked a handful of fish down deep to 60 feet. Our downriggers were set at 7 and 11 feet early and dropped to 20 to 25 feet as the sun came up and broke the fog. Our solo client went home with his 5 Trout and was happy to score fish on his 5th outing in a row with us. Anyone interested in fishing on board, send me a message and let's get you booked.
