I have been fishing a variety of lakes and rivers in Northern California since i was a kid in the 1970's. I have built my fishing team from a group of family and friends starting in 2001 to fish in local derbies and tournaments. We started out by donating our time to local groups to get kids fishing as well as veterans on the water also. in 2011 I started the guide service to officially be able to take guests out fishing on the lakes. In 2013, the addition of being licensed as a Captain with OUPV (6 pack) credentials for tidal waters was obtained. After a couple of years, I was able to take and pass the Near Coastal credentials for running passengers up to 100 miles offshore as well.
My personal and career background includes being licensed as a Paramedic. Having worked both Fire and Ambulance for many years, allows me to be comfortable in handling any unforseen circumstances that may arise also. I pride myself on providing a safe, and fun, family-friendly environment on the boat for a day. Please contact me for a fun filled adventure and let's go fishing!

Full Day — King Salmon Shared PP • 1 adulthad a trip with Captain Doug on 10/13. The morning started out with Captain Doug going over instructions and safety precautions so everybody would be prepared. We didn’t catch any fish, but the trip was very informative and fun. We were out on the water all day, with Captain Doug trying and explaining all kinds of techniques that he use to try to get the fish to bite. It wasn’t for a lack of effort that we didn’t catch fish. Although we didn’t catch any fish, it was a great day on the water with a lot of laughs and information being shared.

My coworker and I both landed 17-pound King Salmon - this was my very first salmon catch ever, and it's an experience I won't forget! Captain Doug's passion for what he does is obvious from the moment you step on the boat. He was determined and wouldn't stop until we both landed our fish. Along the way, I learned so much about King Salmon fishing techniques on the Delta - he's clearly knowledgeable and loves sharing that with his clients. The customer service was top-notch from start to finish, and the whole day felt perfectly run. Full Day — Delta Stripers Private G • 1 adultCapt Doug was determined to get us into feeding fish! We trolled, jigged and anchored! He was willing to do what was needed without forcing a predetermined method. I finished the day with 7 stripers and 4 catfish!! Thankyou Doug for guiding me to my completion of catching a fish in all 50 states! Catching a striper in the delta has been a goal for a while now. Hope to see you in Michigan, just let me know your species choice, we will make it happen. Capt Doug was an exceptional guide, skill, knowledge, friendly, sense of humor, flexibility! I highly recommend team Mcfishing for your delta fishing experience! Also, it was a sweltering 102° and we were still successful

Full Day — Delta Stripers Shared PP - 9:00 AM • 1 adultCaptain Doug & First Mate Scott where helpful & friendly.. They introduce interesting conversation subjects.. I hooked a Stripper it got away but likely too small to keep anyway.. Fishing was not good this day..even another boat of fisherman we talked to caught nothing. Most important...I had lots of fun..! I would reccommend you using their services.. I will be going fishing with them again..

Trolling Yields 5, 10 & 20lb Salmon

Water temps down to 67° and allot less weeds in the water than a few days ago. We started off trolling the incoming tide and hooked up on the first 2 passes. We ran 2 more passes and headed further downstream. We managed to hook another one that made it right next to the boat and popped off right before we could get the net under it. The size of the last one was easily past 20 pounds. Our first 2 fish were 5 and 10 pounds each. The cooler weather is coming, the water temps are still coming down. We still have about 2 months left of this Fall Salmon season and would be happy to have you out for a day on the boat.

24.8 lb King Salmon Hooked on Half-Day R

Water temps are still warm in our area. Just under 69° today and the weather is still hot out pushing 100°. We managed to hook up a 24.8 pound king salmon on our half day trip on the river today. There are fresh fish moving in every day, and once the water temps start falling even more, the bite will continue to improve.

13.35 lb King Salmon on Scorpion Spinner

Another beautiful day on the river chasing king salmon. We had to find a nice salmon before our guest had to catch his plane home to China. We did just that and on the first pass of the morning. 13.35 pounds on the Scorpion Salmon Spinners I designed years ago for Shasta Tackle. They are still catching fish on the Sacramento River. Water temps are down around 67° and with this weekend being the Rio Vista Striper Festival and Derby, it will be busy on the water. We are booked all weekend but have some open days this coming week.

Two Kings to 21+ lbs on Upstream Troll

Started out the morning on the outgoing tide ending it's run. Dropped 4 rods into troll scorpion salmon spinners and as I was dropping the 4th rod in, as soon as it hit the bottom, fish on! First fish was over 9 pounds and came into the net quickly.
We reset after finishing the troll pattern and ran another upstream set. Same color lures, same upstream troll and boom! Second fish on for the morning. 21 plus pound king salmon to the net. We ran another couple troll lines and ended the 4 hours on the water with just over 30 lbs for the 2 fish. Guests today and myself had prior afternoon commitments, so we all had to head back to land.
Water temps about 67° in Rio Vista area of the Sacramento River today. With the continued temps falling and full moon approaching, we should be seeing more of these big fish move into the system.

Dime-Bright King Salmon on Spinners

10th birthday trip today on board. Water temps are just under 67° in the mornings and up to 69° in the afternoon. We were able to get away from the 100 plus boats that weren't catching anything from what we saw. When it's super busy on the water, we move away from the fleet and find our own clean water. This King came on the original Shasta tackle Scorpion Salmon Spinners we developed over a decade ago. With water temps cooling a little more each week, we are getting into the prime time for these dime bright salmon coming into the lower river. There is still some hyacinth and witches hair grass in the rivers and we have been moving around to get away from that stuff in the areas we are fishing.

River Kings: 17 lb Salmon Saved

Water temps are still in the 67° range. We spent the day looking for pods of Salmon pushing up the river. Normally the incoming tide is our favorite time to catch them. Today at the very end of the incoming, we found the best school of the day. We dropped on them and within 15 minutes, we landed 2 of these 17 pound Salmon. They are coming in better and better every week with the dropping water temps. We will be fishing on the river for King Salmon until December 16th when the season closes.
