He caught bait for the day before our 7a mtg time and met us 30 mins south on Oak Island where we were staying. We worked for fish the majority of the day on some great looking spots catching 6-8 fish, first trout of the season and some keeper reds. We never stayed on a spot longer than 20 mins if the bite was slow. We actually ran out of bait with 45 mins or so left in our trip so we made a bait run close by netting 20 or so mini-mullet to fish the last spot. It was a spot we’d fished an hour or so before but the tide started moving a little heavier. We returned and smoked 7 dandy reds in the last 20-30 mins of our trip. I have fished all over the south with guides for 35 yrs and Mason is at the top of the list. Great trip.  A+ hard-workin’ guide right here!

We had a great trip with Captain Mason. My sons (5 and 11) both caught multiple fish. He was very knowledgeable, personable and patient with us all. Great communication before the trip. He moved us to new spots if we weren’t catching. And he filleted our fish at the end of the trip which we cooked for a delicious dinner. I would recommend him to anyone and especially if you have kids.

My son and I went out with Mason and had a great time. He is very knowledgeable about the intercoastal Waters and got us on some fish right away. I believe my son caught about eight red drum and one flounder.  I caught about five red drums they were all in the 20-27 inch range. I recommend going out with Captain Mason to anyone.

This was the best decision we’ve ever made for a family outing fishing. The scenery was beautiful. Boat ride was smooth. And we were focused on fishing where they were biting not just wasting our time trying to catch fish that weren’t there like we’ve done on some other trips in the past. A slow start turned into a day of personal bests with 40+ fish by our count and a surprise crab in the boat and we WILL be back again and again. Can’t recommend enough.

Beautiful day after the no-name storm. Afternoon trip was great. Capt. Porter put us on fish from the first stop. He was very patient with inexperienced fishermen and a couple of “seasoned” oldsters.
One in our party, Dakota, caught his first fish and then went on to make the grand slam with redfish, bluefish, and flounder. Too bad flounder were out of season as we caught two very large flounder, took pictures and released them to make many new ones! Caught plenty of redfish in the slot and kept two for dinner. No trout on this trip.
Heartily recommend Mason…he is a stand up dude and very familiar with the waters. Fishing Booker makes it extremely easy to find available charters even on short notice!
