It was rough to not catch a fish and only get one bite but that’s how it goes sometimes and it’s no ones fault. We were disappointed however in the lack of communication as to what we were doing the entire trip. We never had clear direction on the goals or even what we were fishing for. No one had a reel even in there hands for longer than 3 or 4 minutes. We were also under the impression we’d be going out a bit farther but only made it 4 miles at the most. We booked this just the night before so I understand the crew not having time to prep but overall was just a disappointing experience that really didn’t feel like fishing at all especially for the money spent.

Great crew had lots of fun caught a 65lb rooster fish. Captain and deckhand Douglas know what they are doing.

There were several things I wished I had known beforehand on this trip.  It turned into a very expensive water taxi trip to Tortuga.

Captain and crew were fine, and the boat and equipment were good.  However, the description says snorkel equipment provided.  It is not.  20 bucks each to rent it. 

We didn’t have a single bite.  I get it, sometimes that is fishing, but there was no offer to change tactics or species.  I had expressed interest in my initial email after booking in rooster fishing, but that apparently wasn’t considered, and only trolling tackle was on the boat.

There was just an over and back ride to Tortuga, with trolling on the way.  We also felt like if you are going to advertise a trip to Tortuga, the water taxi to get on the island should be included, along with the advertised scuba gear.  It was not.

The boat and gear are good, crew is nice enough and probably competent, but some ability to be flexible and provide viable options would be appreciated.  I would not recommend the Tortuga Island experience.  There are much cheaper options if that is what you want.  The description also needs to be updated to clearly indicate what is included and what is not.

Sometimes they bite, and sometimes they don’t,  but it was frustrating to have a lack of flexibility and accurate description.
