Going out for only two hours, it was an easy afternoon activity. The harbor where the boat is located was a little bit hard to find because the Navigation app was taking us to a wrong spot, but a quick phone call to Captain Mike was all we had to do to get easy directions. Once we arrived there were no delays, we jumped into the boat and a minute later were on our way. The captain and the first mate take care of all the net, so for the first 30-40 minutes we were just enjoying the ride (and some refreshments we brought with us), then they pulled out the catch and the net was filled with shrimp, crabs and some smaller fish. At that time we got involved in sorting the catch, and preparing our shrimp by removing heads. And in two hours there was time for a second net pull, so they again lowered the net and we waited while the boat slowly went around the bay (BTW, this trip is in the calm waters of the western side of the outer banks). The second pull was even larger than the first. Again we sorted amd cleaned, and at the end walked out with around 50lb of shrimp and a dozen of blue crabs! The catch easily made up for the trip price, and it was so much fun. Mike and the first mate Will are great guys! They were happy to answer any questions and were extremely friendly and accommodating! I highly recommend this trip 👌 There are a couple of things I want to point out. Not a huge issue but there is no toilet on the boat. They have a bucket for the ladies and a private cockpit area, and for the guys… well you just go overboard if you have to.

Absolutely amazing experience! The captain and mate were fantastic at allowing us to do whatever tasks we felt comfortable with. We caught a lot of delicious crab and shrimp. We even saw dolphins and played a small prank on a family member. All in all it was a very fun and memorable trip for our family! Definitely recommend to anyone..

Captain Mike and his crew made this experience unforgettable. Our family spent a half day shrimp and crabbing with Croatan Charters and it was the highlight of our trip. We caught more shrimp and crab than we knew what to do with and our children were able to participate in every part of it.  Captain Mike and his crew were knowledgeable, kind, funny and really made this day something memorable for our family. We will definitely do this again!
