I'm Captain Pepi Alfonso (USCG 100-Ton Master Captain), born and raised in sunny Miami, Florida! I grew up fishing in Miami and the hidden gems of the Islamorada backcountry in the Florida Keys. Back in 1996, I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Communications with a splash in Environmental Studies from Loyola University. But the adventure didn't stop there! I packed my bags and set sail for Puerto Rico, where I started fishing on the amazing North Coast of the island. Then, in 1999, I made my way to Rincon and created the legendary Makaira Fishing Charters. I love to share my passion and expertise. Capt. Pepi was wonderful. We started the morning catching live bait then headed offshore. Bite was slow but put a few in the cooler. Decided to head inshore to find a little more action and on our way in found a weed line holding some mahi and we hooked up quick! Got a few in the boat and headed home. they recommended a few restaurants to bring our fish to as well as some other good spots to check out. Very knowledgeable about where to fish and how to target. definitely will be hitting them up next time we’re in town.

Fantastic Charter Captain and Crew Puerto Rico

Makaira Charters delivered a fantastic adventure for our entire family. Our family decided to chip in for a fishing experience over the holidays. We are so glad we chose Captain Pepi and Jose for our outing. His Contender fishing platform was in top shape and was totally comfortable for our party of 6. Captain Pepi customized our trip to include trolling for Wahoo and Mahi, as well as free lining for Tuna. We learn valuable lessons about fishing off of Rincon and we caught Wahoo and hooked a nice Sailfish that ultimately threw the hook- but great fun nonetheless. Our family is already planning our next trip with Makaira Charters. It was easily one of our best trips out into blue water we have experienced. Thanks again- The Prichards

went with 2 teen boys, husband. everyone caught fish, had a great time. It was a wavy adventure but well worth the time spent. Captain and crew were very friendly and both worked hatd to keep is fishing! We did really want to catch bigger fish but overall experience was whst we were looking for! Wear sunscreen!

Excellent charter

Captain Pepe and Jose were incredible! It was windy so they suggested we fish closer to shore instead of offshore. Caught yellowtail and cero mackerel that they cleaned and made a suggestion to take to Harbor restaurant to cook for us. Fish was delicious and we had an excellent time in the boat. Well equipped and knowledgeable crew, highly recommend!

what a great trip. captain pepe and his mate jose were fantastic. very knowledgeable and accommodating. they put us on fish right away and made the trip fun. we finished the day with plenty I f fish which they cleaned for us and their recommendation for a restuarant to prepare it for us was on point! great trip. highly recommend.
