Wahoo, Kingfish, Blue Marlin, Sailfish, Yellowfin Tuna, Blackfin Tuna, Yellowtail Snapper, Mahi Mahi, and more are in the cards if conditions are right. Trolling, live baiting, and bottom fishing are available, as well as snorkel trips combined with fishing. Your trip can be customized to include everything you desire. Any fish within the legal limit is yours to keep. Plus, you can have your catch cleaned. Now that’s dinner!
Your boat for the day is a Contender 33T (34’10 LOA) tournament-rigged, with room for 6 passengers. It has all the essentials no fishing machine can run without. Rods, reels, and tackle are covered by the charter, along with lures. Live bait fishing is an option.
You'll have the help of a First Mate to put you on fish. A 10–20% tip is customary to show your appreciation for their hard work. The charter boat covers your fishing license, so all you have to do is show up ready for a good time! Be mindful that some species may have special rules or limited seasons. If you don't know what to expect, ask the captain.
Makaira Fishing Charters welcomes anglers of all ages, including kids, so feel free to make a family day out of it! Be sure to ask if child-sized life vests are available. Don't leave home without snacks, sunglasses, a hat, and sunblock (non-spray). Soft drinks and water will be available for you. Alcohol is allowed in moderation. Capt. Pepi was wonderful. We started the morning catching live bait then headed offshore. Bite was slow but put a few in the cooler. Decided to head inshore to find a little more action and on our way in found a weed line holding some mahi and we hooked up quick! Got a few in the boat and headed home. they recommended a few restaurants to bring our fish to as well as some other good spots to check out. Very knowledgeable about where to fish and how to target. definitely will be hitting them up next time we're in town.
Makaira Charters delivered a fantastic adventure for our entire family. Our family decided to chip in for a fishing experience over the holidays. We are so glad we chose Captain Pepi and Jose for our outing. His Contender fishing platform was in top shape and was totally comfortable for our party of 6. Captain Pepi customized our trip to include trolling for Wahoo and Mahi, as well as free lining for Tuna. We learn valuable lessons about fishing off of Rincon and we caught Wahoo and hooked a nice Sailfish that ultimately threw the hook- but great fun nonetheless. Our family is already planning our next trip with Makaira Charters. It was easily one of our best trips out into blue water we have experienced. Thanks again- The Prichards
what a great trip. captain pepe and his mate jose were fantastic. very knowledgeable and accommodating. they put us on fish right away and made the trip fun. we finished the day with plenty I f fish which they cleaned for us and their recommendation for a restuarant to prepare it for us was on point! great trip. highly recommend.
great trip amd caught some beautiful fish. as a charter captain myself i can honestly say the captain and crew were awesome!
This was an amazing fishing trip! Captain Pepi and Jose were knowledgable and helpful to our crew, most of whom never fished on a boat before. They knew where all the fishing holes were. We caught king mackerel and black fin tuna. They even recommended a restaurant that cooked some of the fish for lunch-there was more fish than we could even eat. Highly recommend them! 10/10!! Thanks again for a very cool experience!

- Live bait (Fishing with live bait is one of the options we offer. We start the morning castnetting bait. It is included in the price.)

- Catch cleaning & filleting (If you would like at the end of the day our first mate will clean and fillet some fish for you to take. This is included in the rate, however a tip for the mate is customary.)
- Drinks (Soft drinks and water)
- First mate (A first mate will always come along. He helps in catching and rigging bait, hooking and gaffing fish and filleting and cleaning fish for you to take home. He is an essential part of the experience. Customary tip is 15%-20% of the charter rate.)
- Fishing license (As a permitted and licensed charter boat, all licenses and permits are provided.)
