Cape Crusader Charters

The reefs are usually a great way to start the new fishing year in Atlantic Beach. Spots like AR-315 and AR-330 are hotbeds for Flatfish, so head out with a guide and get yourself a warming meal!

The conditions are still tough for heading offshore, but if you find a calm day there's the chance of landing a monster Yellowfin in the deep. Otherwise, the bays and reefs continue to yield great rewards.&nbsp;

If you're anywhere near Cape Lookout, make sure you're prepped for some big Reds coming your way. The docks and pier areas should are a great place to fish for these beauties and their black cousins.

Hatteras Blues should be moving around near Cape Lookout at about this time. Stingsilvers and spoons are the weapons of choice, with the topwaters being useful for bigger specimens, so get ready for a boatful!

If you've been patiently waiting for Cobia to make an appearance, wait no more! Live eels or jigs should do the trick depending on your preferences, as you head to the reefs and get your fish on.

A summer hits Atlantic Beach, the fishing really hits its stride. Head out to the Gulf Stream for Marlin and Mahi Mahi, as you look to fill the coolers with plenty of action as well. Just don't forget to stock up on bait.&nbsp;

Trolling the easternmost side of Cape Lookout is sure to result in plenty of Kingfish bites, while its cousin – Spanish Mackerel – provides plenty of action near the inlet, alonf with plenty of other prized creatures.

Peak season is in full flow in Atlantic Beach come August. Along with the Billfish bite offshore, delicious fish nearshore, and the usual suspects inshore, the Shrimp boat wrecks attract plenty of Sharks for real action.&nbsp;

Summer's on its way out, but there's no end to the fishing. Attention shifts inshore, where Sheepshead can be found near most local bridges. Fill up on Crabs and Sea Urchins as bait, and land yourself some dinner.

The crowds have died down but there's no sign of the fishing going anywhere. Redfish return to centre stage inshore, with plenty of monsters biting at the end of your line. Meanwhile Wahoo will tempt you offshore.

Early winter is still a fantastic time for offshore fishing if you have the time and energy – and if the weather permits. Wahoo, Sailfish, and all sorts of Tuna are in store, with plenty of action inshore if the water is choppy.

Come winter, Redfish will be schooled up in the backcountry. Watch out for their tails just cutting through the water tops, as you go after meat and action in equal measure. See out the year in style!
