The owner of the charter doesn’t actually run the charters himself, which isn’t a big deal as long as the captain is well seasoned and experienced in the area we’re actually fishing. The owner either has his own business or a different job or something, can’t remember what the captain said. The captain was nice enough but told us he’s only been running trips in the area for barely a year (but he’s been fishing his whole life). It’s never a good sign when you ask him questions about what year the boat is..”honestly I do not know…” what’s the name of that lighthouse over there.. “honestly I do not know..” the fishing was horrible.. caught 2 small 12” blues and 1 stingray…. That was it. And we get it, it’s fishing not catching and we’re two very well seasoned walleye fisherman out of Lake Erie, so we know how it can go, but all we kept hearing was the boat is too small to take over to the inlet or near the bridge to fish structure or we can’t fish here or there even though it’s a good spot because of the bigger fishing boats wakes, or we kept hearing how these clients caught fish in this spot last week or a few days ago. We literally fished in about 3 foot of water all afternoon which we definitely weren’t expecting but maybe that’s how it goes out here. We left the dock and it’s maybe a 2 mile quick ride to where we started… we moved about 6 times but no dice. All we did was cast out cut bait and sit and wait, pretty much the most boring fishing of all time, which we weren’t expecting either but I guess that’s all you do on this boat. I didn’t see any trolling gear or anything besides spinning gear. When we arrived at the dock we were excited because we saw about 12 drum laying on the dock from another charter. The boat doesn’t have a working radio for music either, so we had to listen to other charter guys on the radio talk about poor crab fishing, this guys got cancer, etc.. such a bummer and depressing listening to go along with poor fishing until I told my father in law to play some music on his phone.  Also, you could tell the owner scrapped this captain together the day before as he was pulling up charts on the gps to see where the boat has been before to figure out where to go. Then we’d get to a spot and he’s be surprised at how much grass/weeds there were. If he ran the charter full time and wasn’t just a fill in, you think he would have known what was below the surface. Honestly, I was ready to go back to the dock after two hours but for 525$ I was hoping the trip would turn around. Again, the captain was nice enough and he drove up from two hours away in the morning, and again, I don’t think he was the regular captain for the boat. Either way, would definitely not recommend this charter for 525$… you’re fishing from a boat that’s literally anchored to the island shore, instead, but some bait and go hit the bridges or piers. You’ll save a ton of money.

Rough day! Wind blowing not a good day to fish. Ryan tried to no success. Ryan tried to keep us out of rough water. He also tried very hard to locate fish

Got no fish to bring home. Not so many bites. It is a so so trip. I were told the weather is bad, too much wind. I went out on fishing trips before but I m not satisfied with this one. I don’t think Ryan is experienced enough to find good fishing spots. He even found the last spot with lots of crabs for us. Guess it was just used to kill time since it is very close to the port we departure. I give out three stars because he was nice to his customers. But for the overall fishing experience I can’t give a 5 star.

VERY DISAPPOINTED ! When you fish the same area every day , you SHOULD know where to catch fish. And when your bait is obviously not working , you change to something different . We did not . We ended up catching 3 , yes 3 ,  fish that were too small to keep even if we wanted to . Oh , and be financially prepared for the sign on the boat when you get there that says “customary tip 20% + ” . Nice guys , but not the best fishing trip , to be sure .
