Hi, I'm Capt. Luis 'Lou' Lagrange — a South Florida native and lifelong bass angler. I started fishing at 10 years old and never looked back. For the past 25+ years I've focused on what I love most: chasing Florida largemouth and Miami peacock bass in the Everglades and local canals. Bonefish are back on top form, as water temperatures are perfect for them. Troll slowly over the reefs for Kingfish and bottom fish for Snapper. Look for Sailfish as the weather cools towards the end of the month.

Miami Peacock Bass Action Stays Hot Into

Peacock Bass fishing across the Miami freshwater canal systems continues to produce steady action as late summer gives way to early fall.
Recent trips have been producing consistent numbers of fish, including quality Peacocks in the 3-pound class and occasional opportunities at larger fish. Water temperatures have generally remained in the mid-to-upper 80s, with slightly stained conditions in many areas.
We’re still seeing a mix of spawning and post-spawn behavior, so fish have been using a variety of depths throughout the day. Some have been shallow and visible, while others have been relating to deeper canal edges and hard structure.
Live bait continues to be very productive for clients, especially around active fish. The biggest key lately has been staying flexible and adjusting as fish reposition through the morning.
For anglers visiting South Florida, this remains a great time to experience Miami Peacock Bass fishing. These fish are aggressive, colorful, and put up an incredible fight for their size.

Miami Peacock Madness — 20+ Fish Day!

Had an awesome day on the water with Rick and Brayden chasing Miami Peacock Bass, and the bite did not disappoint. We spent the trip working productive stretches of the Miami canal system, dialing in our presentation and staying on the move until we found consistent feeders.
Once we got into the right areas, it turned into steady action with aggressive strikes and quality fish coming to the boat. By the time we wrapped up, we’d landed 20+ fish, with plenty of beautiful peacocks in the mix and nonstop excitement from start to finish.

Fishing Report: Miami Peacock Bass Trip (Family Charter)
Yesterday I had the pleasure of taking Jon and his two sons out for a Miami canals peacock bass trip, and it was an awesome way to kick off the new year. We had a beautiful Miami day on the water with comfortable conditions and great visibility in the canals.
The bite was steady and the kids were dialed in — we finished the trip landing 16 peacock bass. The fish were aggressive, with those classic hard peacock strikes that make Miami fishing so exciting. Jon’s boys did an excellent job listening, learning, and putting fish in the boat, which is exactly what these family trips are all about.

2025 Season Wrap-Up — South Florida Bass Report (Miami • Everglades • Lake Ida)
What a year on the water! 2025 wrapped up with steady action across South Florida, and I’m grateful for every family, first-timer, and experienced angler who joined me to chase our two favorite targets: Miami Peacock Bass and Florida Largemouth.
Miami Canals: The peacock bite stayed consistent when we focused on the right stretches and adjusted to daily conditions. When the goal was “maximum action,” live shiners made a big difference and helped keep rods bent for beginners and kids.
Everglades: Classic Florida largemouth fishing with beautiful scenery and that “wild” Everglades feel. We stayed mobile, hit high-odds areas, and let the fish tell us the pace — some days were run-and-gun, other days were slower and more methodical, but the Everglades always delivers an experience.
Lake Ida: A fun mix of peacocks and largemouth, with the bonus excitement of “you never know what’s next” water. Great option for anglers looking for variety and a different style of trip.
