Alex is a Fort Walton Beach native and a USCG licensed 25 Ton Master Captain. Born and raised here, he stared fishing at 3 years old with his dad and brother. Alex and his wife Jessica live in Fort Walton Beach and enjoy days on the water as much as possible. Over the years of fishing around Destin, Alex has developed an expertise of the area. From every corner of the Bay, to far offshore, he knows these waters like the back of his hand. Alex is also a proficent Trombone player, and you might catch him playing with the Downbeat Jazz Orchestra around town! His greatest passion is teaching and sharing fishing with others. Beginers and experts alike enjoy fishing with him because of his knowledge and laid back attitude.

    Memories made!!!

    6 Hour Trip • 2 adults

    My son and I went on a 6 hour trip with Captain Alex today and had an absolute blast. We got our limit on Red Snapper, 3 Vermillion Snappers, 3 Mahi Mahi and a bunch of non keepers. I had a sand bar shark for a while but lost him just before getting him to the boat. Also lost many snapper to really big Groupers. Captain Alex is great. Even though we have done this kind of fishing before, my son and I learned all kinds of new fishing techniques. Thanks Alex! We highly recommend Intentional Fishing Charters. We will be back to make more family memories.

    8 Hour Trip June Snapper Promo • 4 adults • 2 children

    Can’t say enough about Capt. Alex and Intentional Fishing. Probably the best trip that we have ever been on!! He put us on fish the entire time and did everything possible to make it enjoyable for the whole family, including fishing with our 5yr old so that way we (parents) could keep our lines in the water to get those massive Red Snapper and Grouper that we caught all day. We will definitely be back to Florida soon, and Intentional Fishing will be our #1 choice of fishing charters here in the Panhandle.

    We booked with Captain Alex 24 hours before the fishing date and he responded instantaneously and assured us that we wouldn’t have to worry about fishing time wasted on catching bait as he already had bait ready! He was very helpful and educated on fishing and allowed my 2 friends and I to have the best experience on the water. Book with Intentional fishing they are amazing! I will 100% be coming back

    Absolutely a blast!!!!!

    4 Hour Trip (PM) • 3 adults

    We went out for a four hour trip with Alex. The fishing was a little slow in the first spot or two we tried and Alex decided to take us elsewhere rather than to fool around with little fish stealing our bait. When he found the spot we were in the fish for the rest of the day and had an absolute blast. Alex went above and beyond to be sure that me and my wife and my daughter had the Time of our lives. It was more than just a fishing trip he pointed out different fish and dolphins to us as well. We even got to experience an encounter with a shark trying to steal our fish from the line as we really did in which was an amazing experience. Me and my family are already considering another trip back to Fort Walton Beach based around going fishing with Alex. He is definitely our fishing guide when we are in the area from this point on we would never consider going somewhere else when you make a friend like him. Thanks again Alex from the Ayres family.

Mingo Monday and bonus fish!

My group from Ohio booked their first gulf fishing trip on my website and they crushed it! We started with a slow bite, but it got hectic pretty fast. They loaded up on a limit of Vermillion Snapper, a few Grass Porgy's, and a couple triggerfish. Tons of undersized fish released as well. For the last half hour, they wanted to bend the rods a little more so we put on some bigger baits and they got to pull on a few nice red snapper. Seas were around 1ft, 10mph South winds, and partly cloudy. Was a great day!

The snapper bite has been phenomenal! Mangrove Snapper is open and one of the tastiest fish out there! Red Snapper should open up in June!

Sheepy Slabs

Two big sheepshead made it in the cooler today. Using live bait, we had several fish break off on structure. Would have been a huge haul if they all made it to the boat! Lots of Sheepshead and a couple felt like 20lb+ Black Drum. This fishing is only going to improve throughout winter and early spring.

Scamp Grouper!

Destin, FL January 14, 2022 With calmer water conditions, we were able to run further to a proven grouper spot. Using slow-pitch jigging and live bait, we managed to catch fish all day. Since Triggerfish and Red Snapper are not open we focused our efforts on catching Scamp Grouper. These fish are tricky to hook and are experts at stealing live bait. We had to use very light tackle which was very fun and sporty! Several break-offs from sharks, lots of nice snapper, and a ton of smaller triggerfish too.

First Big Sheepshead Haul This Year!

Jan 13, 2022 • Shalimar
Sheepshead fishing has been hit and miss so far this winter. The water has not really cooled off yet. This will change over the next couple weeks though! We stayed inshore all day because of a brisk SW wind that made the Gulf very rough. We fished some spots around the Destin Bridge that usually produce, but there were only Pinfish there to steal our bait. Once settling on a different spot we found some hungry fish! We landed 6 nice keepers between 14-18". The usual Carolina Rig was not working at all, but a specific jighead rigged with shrimp was very effective! This haul made for some nice fillets and a delicious dinner!

BIG GAGS, SNAPPER, PORGY'S, SHARKS

Cold temps but awesome fishing! Fishing over natural coral bottom, a variety of techniques brought some nice fish in the boat. 2 big Gag Grouper, lots of Red Snapper and Triggerfish, Red Porgy, Whitebone Porgy, and 2 huge Mangrove Snapper (aka Black Snapper). We also had 7ft shark caught on a slow pitch jig! She was unhooked and released to harass us another day!
