Full Day Trip from December 2025 • 5 adultsThis charter met our expectations. The captain and crew hunted down fish for us to catch. We ended up on a large blue fin tuna, that tasted amazing. Crew Cheyenne had a special concoction to serve the fresh tuna in and it was amazing. Word on the street, it’s his wife’s recipe! We also landed a good sized mahi. We were having such a great time, we ended up drinking all the beer on the boat, but the crew somehow coordinated with another vessel off shore and arranged a special delivery of beer, which lasted us the rest of the day. The crew went above and beyond to make our charter the best it could be. We had a great day, had a lot of fun, and would recommend this charter to anyone.

3/4 day Trip from December 2024 • 2 adultsFished a 3/4 day with Gerald and my son was able to catch, land and release a beautiful sailfish! We also saw several pods of dolphin, numerous sea turtles, numerous flying fish and a squadron of manta ray! We caught a couple of other small, trash fish but the sailfish really was the cherry on top of a great trip. Fishing was slow but Gerald worked hard the entire time!

3/4 day Trip from December 2024 • 3 adultsCaptain Gerald was very knowledgeable about the local water and came prepared. My groups target goal was to catch rooster fish however was unable to accomplish that goal because rooster fishing had been slow. Captain Gerald did make every attempt to hit that goal. He battled extremely windy conditions which prevented us from Captain Geralds targeted spots for Rooster fishing. The captain kept us busy with that attempt by catching other fish such as, snapper, grouper, tuna, jacks, and other varieties which totaled over 30 different fish for the day. All in all a great charter.

Half Day (AM) • 3 adultsFishing Capullo Sportfishing was a great experience. Louise (owner) was very helpful and even met us at the beach before our trip. Our guide Gerald was outstanding in make out trip a success. He worked consistently from start to finish on our trip. He is excellent in targeting Roosterfish, which we did catch. I highly recomment Capullo Sportfishing.

Great deep sea fishing!
Half Day (PM) • 2 adultsDespite it being a very windy day and we were on a small boat, we were still able to catch two red snapper and a Spanish mackerel. Gerard did an amazing job for me and my two boys!

A Fishing Holiday Season in Costa Rica

Our Rainbow Runner and Capullo boats have seen an abundance of fish these last few weeks bringing smiles to our clients faces. Some impressive sized marlin and sailfish were caught and released. With the arrival of the pelicans, and bait fish seen jumping at the shore line, we knew we were onto a good thing. Bait balls of yellowfin tuna along with hundreds of dolphins including spinners were frequently encountered close to Tamarindo and many of our clients had the opportunity to haul in a fair few yellowfin. We recently caught a wahoo and we are moving into wahoo season. As usual the mahi mahi were around and giving a good fight. Capullo Sportfishing looks forward to fishing with more of you in 2022. A great variety of fish catches over the last few weeks on the Rainbow Runner and Capullo boats. On many people's bucket list are Rooster fish and our Captains didn't disappoint with several handsome specimens being hooked all of which are released back into the sea. Cubera snapper are around and we have recently caught some Jack Trevally. We love having families on board and giving the kids the chance to catch their own fish. Capullo Sportfishing Back Out On The Wat

2020 was a difficult year for everyone. We are so thankful that this year Costa Rica has tourists coming back and our crew can get out on the boats again. Sailfish and marlin have been prevalent this June & July. Yellowfin tuna have been the eating fish of the season with some good sizes getting caught. Making Memories on the Capullo

The holiday season brought many families together to enjoy a fishing adventure on our 36" Topaz, the Capullo. From first time anglers to experienced anglers we hooked a variety of fish for eating and also big sport billfish. For the table we had a double header mahi mahi hooked by a father and daughter combination. A first time catch of a yellow fin tuna saw a brave teenager fulfill the Costa Rican tradition of eating the heart of the tuna which brings good luck for his next fishing adventure. The same family had two of the brothers reel in their first wahoo together. Another first for the families was hooking a sailfish and a blue marlin. Great fun had by everyone.

May has been a great month for hooking Rooster fish and for many of our fishermen this was a first time experience. Fishing both onshore and offshore plenty fish for the table were caught - Mahi Mahi and Yellow Fin Tuna being in abundance. A very handsome Wahoo was caught weighing in at 40lb. Happy fishing days.

Great half day aboard the Capullo

Another great day aboard the Capullo. Luke, Hannah, Richard and Denis were great guests and had success with a beautiful Cubera snapper, 3 mahi mahi and 3 skipjack tuna. Not bad for a half days work :-) Enjoy your dinner tonight guys.
