Captain
Jason O'Brien
Member since February 2022
Port Clinton, United States
- Background
- Captain Jason was born in Toronto and grew up fly-in fishing in northern Canada. Lake of the Woods holds a special place in his memories as one of his all-time favorite freshwater fishing spots. When he moved to Los Angeles as a youth, he used to play semi-professional hockey. While hockey took up much of his time, that didn't prevent him from spending time on the beach of the Sea of Cortez studying marine biology and ecology along with angling with his parents in southern California. Shortly after graduating college in Colorado, the captain moved to Florida for 14 years where he experienced a different kind of fishing out of Cape Canaveral and into the Bahamas. Today, he is married with three children. The captain has a home in Port Clinton, Ohio on the shores of the Western Basin of Lake Erie and enjoys fishing the lake hot spots from ice-off through ice-on.
- Techniques
- Captain Jason competes in tournament circuits such as Western Basin Sports Fishing Association – Lake Erie Walleye Trail (LEWT) Tournament Series and Cabela’s Master Walleye Circuit (MWC) Tournaments. Thanks to his professional career, he's had the chance to attend various national and international events, conferences, as well as trade shows. He also represented different companies at the international trade shows in Las Vegas, Orlando, and Atlanta. He now organizes speaking seminars to promote Walleye fishing. Captain Jason also has a video channel called JOB Fishing which in the first 8 months, has surpassed all reasonable expectations for a channel launch.
