- Captain Travis Overman and Captain Elliot Estes operate our 25ft Contender Open. Our boat has plenty of room for up to 6 passengers for fishing the nearshore waters of Oak Island and Bald Head Island. We also fish offshore, 10-30 miles, depending on the fishing season/time of year and can carry a maximum of 4 passengers. We encourage kids on our 3 hour and 4 hour trips to fish with their families so that they can get the full experience of being on the water and learning how we fish our local waters. Our Contender is fully equipped with all USCG safety gear Type I life vests. We are licensed and fully insured. Captain Elliot Estes is our newest team member and has been fishing our area for more than 20 years. Elliot has a lot of knowledge on the water and understands what the fish are doing during our spring, summer and fall fishing season. He can put you on the fish whether it be nearshore or offshore. Captain Travis Overman is owner/operator of Southport Fishing Charters and is a seasonal captain on our Contender 25 Open.
