Techniques: Captain Andy specializes in fly fishing but is skilled in fishing of all types. From casting instruction to improving techniques you will leave his boat a better angler. Great winter fishing in the warm florida

The winter fishing has kicked off to a great start with the first few cold fronts rolling through. Changing weather means changing patterns in fish, creating unique opportunities as fish and move between cold weather and warm weather haunts. Large groups of snook and reds can move into shallow flats looking for shrimp, looking for an easy meal for the proper presentation. Big barracuda can be found on flats as well and can provide a drag screaming and aerial show. Lots of opportunities for the angler looking to warm up and pursue the great winter fishing the florida keys have to offer!

Great winter fishing opportunities

Winter is filled with great opportunities to catch what we call belly crawlers. The shallow waters of the backcountry warm up faster and fish fill into some really great spots for sightfishing. The local tarpon fishing can be great on warmer days also and these fish can be found in a variety of close spots. In short, winter is a time not to be missed in the backcountry of the Florida keys and Everglades national park!

Consistent action, great variety with the talented and personable Capt Andy - we couldn’t have asked for a better day! Capt Andy put us on fish, including Reds, snook, trout, sheepshead and Jack all day. He skillfully poled us into position to have shots on probably 50 reds over an expansive flat. He was also very flexible with departure and return times based on the changing weather forecast and conditions. Perfect day! Thanks Andy!
