Capt. JD has been fishing with his own boats since 2000. He got into ocean fishing and loved it so much that he got his Captain's License. The captain has 2 boats, one for the bay, inlet, and nearshore, and one for the ocean going deep drop fishing. He fishes for all types of fish and is always looking to hook the next State Record. If the ocean is too choppy for the Green Reaper, you will go out on the Reel Steel in the bay. The captain looks forward to every day on the water and hooking up the fish.

    3 hours trip with Captain JD

    3 Hour Trip (11AM) • 3 adults

    My husband, my daughter and I (all beginner fisherman and fisherwomen) had a wonderful fishing time on the board of Reel Steel. Captain JD and Mary were helpful, very kind and fun guides. We got the necessary information ahead, and the whole trip was well organized. We definitely received good starting instructions and came home with the files of 4 nice sized sheep fish that we caught in the Bay. Can’t wait to taste the dish we will prepare from them tonight! Reply: Hi Captain JD, There was no major issue with the boat for us at all (I wish I could select 4.9 for the boat). We felt your boat was very comfortable and safe. The only thing that I thought would make the boat even better is a little shade . I did not felt our 3 hrs trip uncomfortable, but if it was longer -or the day was hotter- I could appreciate a small cool down area on such beautiful sunny day. Thanks again for the great fishing experience!

    We almost caught our limit and had so much fun! They were great and took us right to fish. They were very kind and skilled at the profession. I highly recommend going fishing with them. Made us fill right at home and can't wait to come back and do it again. Thank you

    August fishing trip

    4 Hour Trip – Nearshore - 1:00 PM • 3 adults

    Tough fishing , The captain and the first mate were awesome. We caught some fish. But it is fishing. Sometimes you hit hard, sometimes you don’t. They went over he top, stayed out longer than our trip to catch some. We got a few, Wild highly recommended this team. Good trip.

    Such a great experience

    4 Hour Trip – Nearshore • 3 adults

    Didn't want the BIG boat with 50 people. Booked this trip for my son's 15th birthday for his 1st ocean fishing experience. He loved being on the boat, able to talk "shop" with the captain while we fished. Will definitely look for the Reaper again when we're in OC

    Had a fantastic time on this boat. Captain and first mate were wonderful and put us right on the fish everybody caught their limits and had plenty of fish to take home. Highly recommend charter awesome people and an awesome time.
