We had a fantastic day at sea with the captain and crew. Although we didn’t land any deep-sea tuna this time (which is part of the sport), the experience was outstanding from start to finish. When we switched to bottom fishing, the action really picked up and we caught an impressive number of triggerfish, which made the day even more exciting.

The captain and crew were extremely professional, helpful, and patient — especially as I was fishing together with my son. They explained everything clearly, guided us through the techniques, and made sure we felt confident and involved throughout the trip.

The weather changed during the day, but we felt completely safe at all times. The crew’s experience was obvious — they handled the conditions calmly and professionally and brought us back to the harbor safely and smoothly.

Beyond the fishing, the scenery along the way was beautiful and made the whole trip even more memorable. It was a day full of action, learning, and great moments together.

Highly recommended for anyone looking for a well-run, professional, and enjoyable fishing experience.

It was a wonderful experience, we had many opportunities to bottom fish and attempt some big game fishing too. The captain and crew even prepared a whole meal for us on the way back to the Island (chicken, salad, and sandwiches!) They have plenty of iced beverages as well. Overall, it was a great time. Would absolutely recommend this trip and Capitão José!

went fishing in Madeira and had a wonderful experience! Everything was very well organized — they gave us delicious tuna sandwiches, water, and beer. We caught two fish, and they even gave me one as a gift. It was a great trip, full of fun and good vibes. Highly recommended! 🎣✨

We were on a shared trip with another guy, a total of 3 people. Had plenty of fish to catch, was awesome. The vibe was immaculate!

This was a last minute shared charter after I was let down elsewhere. It was early season for the big game species and the few trolling trips attempted had fared poorly,  so everyone was happy with an inshore bottom fishing trip for smaller fish. Rods were up to the task and the reels quality fixed spools loaded with braid. We used 2 hook rigs with about 8 ounce leads, and bait was salted squid. Even close to the island, Madeira has very deep water,  and it took a long time to drop to the seabed. We were told to reel up 2 or 3 turns to avoid getting snagged and to concentrate on detecting gentle bites. I found that failure spot these and respond quickly meant bare hooks. I think everyone caught fish, with trigger fish being the biggest and hardest fighting,  but we also had seabream and a variety of colourful rock species which were all PBs for me although I have no idea what they were. It was noteworthy that the lighter tipped rods gave the best indication and produced most fish. Skipper Jose and his crew worked hard, drifting many different spots and not hesitating to abort a drift and move on if bites were not coming quickly.  With some mixed abilities aboard a few tangles were inevitable but they were sorted with patience and good humour. The boat is a 27 foot Mitchell sea anglers, so not the most modern,  but proved well up to the task. I’d happily fish with them again given the opportunity. Warmly recommended.
