- Background
- I was born and raised on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I have fished the bays, rivers, sound, islands and Gulf of Mexico for over 30 years. From the days of walking to a pier carrying my poles and tackle box as a boy to owning my first boat, I have loved and enjoyed everything the water has to offer. My father took me at a very young age, and I very quickly wanted to explore and learn everything the sport of fishing had to offer. As I have grown as a fisherman through the years, I have picked up a passion for sharing my knowledge and experiences with others. I love to see others experience the joys nature can bring us.
- Techniques
- My favorite style of fishing is with live bait. Lures and dead bait are great and work just fine but for me, hooking up on a live bait is the most fun. I practice all methods of fishing and believe you have to use them all to maintain a fine-tuned arsenal as a captain. Bottom fishing is probably my most used method, especially with the number of artificial reefs today. After live baiting my second favorite method of catching fish is trolling. I love to hear reels scream on a trolling hook up. Bump trolling and chumming with free lines would be my third and fourth most commonly used methods of fishing. All preferred styles and techniques vary depending on species targeted and time of year as well.
