The fog was thick the morning of the trip which limited our movement and that of the fish. By the time the fog broke and the larger fish started popping, it was time to go back in. We did catch quite a few trout but no keepers.

Another great trip with Captain Bill Willis at Lost Bay Guide Service. I can’t say enough about this man and his knowledge of fishing! While other boats around us were waiting for the reds to surface, Captain Bill was able to put us on the fish using his years of experience and faultless equipment. We had an amazing trip landing these giant bull reds.

Captain Craig was very nice and did very well at getting us to a hot spot to catch fish. The only disappointment of the trip was the weather, causing us to have to stay in shore instead of going off shore where we could have caught something bigger.

The boat and equipment were nice and well taken care of. We had to catch bait, which used some of our fishing time, but we agreed to it and my wife and son had fun jigging for cigar minnows. We also had some close dolphin sightings as they like to steal the bait and my family really liked seeing them so that was a plus also. The only things that detracted from having a 100% great experience was coming back in 30 minutes early and running out of steel leaders on the trip. I had the same thing happen on a trip in Key West last year so I actually had a pack of steel in my pocket, but I really don’t feel it was my responsibility to “save the trip” by having extra leaders. You need leaders to catch Kingfish and that is about all that was in season so it was a necessary part of the equipment for that day. We were suppose to be back at the dock by 10:40 AM but were done cleaning fish and on our way back to the condo by 10:40. All in all the trip was good and we caught probably 10 decent size fish; 3 kings, 5 bonita, a red snapper, and a hardtail. If you go book a trip just make sure you time how long it takes to get to the fishing spot and make sure you dont head back earlier than necessary as each hour costs you about $100. This is my family’s second offshore trip (two different guide companies) and both times steel leaders seem to have been in short supply. If you have any knowledge of the type of fish you will be catching then you may want to tuck a pack of leaders in your pocket just in case.

First let me say that the captain was a very nice guy. Just seemed to me that when he seen 3 teenage girls, my wife and myself he thought he would just do the minimum. Had a couple other friends down the same day fishing the same waters and the same length trip(4hour) caught the red fish limit-smallest was 20 inches long. I just believe he thought the girls would be satisfied just catching anything, for the amount of money payed for a trip like this I just expected more. I understand it’s fishing but if you’re catching small fish for 30 minutes let’s move on to another spot.

We postponed our trip and moved it to the next evening because of strong winds.  I appreciate Captain Craig’s honesty and concern for our safety.  After rescheduling for the next day, our evening trip had to be cut short due to a severe thunderstorm.  Captain Craig gave us the option of going out or cancelling due to the forecast. We chose to go out and enjoy the limited time.  Captain Craig put us on fish immediately and the action was fast and furious with red snapper.  Even though the storm shortened our trip, my family and I had a great time.  Captain Craig was great at explaining what to do to my son and daughter.  We had a great experience and plan to catch up with Captain Craig next year.  His boat and equipment is top notch.
I will call again for a trip with Captain Craig.

Capt. Craig was great. He discussed options with my daughter and me and then went to work putting us on the fish!  We caught Red Snapper, Amberjack, and King Mackerel, all real rod benders! Capt. Craig was quick to adjust technique(s) to match what the fish wanted. We fished near other boats but were the only boat landing fish.  Capt. Craig kept the boat on the fish and the hooks baited. All we had to do was catch fish.  Can’t say enough about Capt. Craig #goodguy!

Caught only about a dozen 6” long red snappers on this 3 hour trip so kids were very disappointed. Was expecting larger fish based on all the great photos.  Guide was friendly and helpful to the kids and boat was new.  Can’t blame him for the tiny fish :(  -see photo-  however, it was a lot of money for fish the size we could have caught in a pond.

Week long trip with two days guided fishing with Lost Bay Guide Service. Day one Inland: Weather was sketchy but we pressed on. Fish were temperamental but that’s why we hired the guide and did it pay off. Ran to several spots catching different fish (blue, trout, ect.) looking for “The One” and found it late morning. After a 40 minutes fight landed a beautiful Jack Crevalle thanks to the persistence and knowledge of our guide! Day two Deep Sea: Weather still not wanting to cooperate but headed out to a wreck for the type of fun you can only have deep sea fishing. Beat the bait barge out so caught our own and headed to the site. Fishing was insane and the freezer if full! Amber Jack, Red Snapper, Trigger, and others, they would not stop. Had the kind of trip that will produce stories for years to come. Thanks for the great experience Capt. Bill with Lost Bay Guide Service! Job well done.

My son Tyler & I were scheduled to go out with Capt. Bill on Tuesday, May 10, 2016. I talked to Bill on Monday night & the weather was supposed to be really rough. He had an opening on Wednesday, so we rescheduled. Ty & I met him at 7:00am & off we went. Unfortunately, the fish were not biting-anywhere!. We must have gone to at least 8-9 different spots, where Bill said they always catch fish! We each caught 1 fish, but it certainly wasn’t what I was hoping for. We did go over to where all the dolphins were hanging out & saw tons of them. It was really fun to get that close to those amazing mammals. It was beautiful out on the water & we had a great time, but just didn’t catch many fish. Capt. Bill is a great guy, knows the area well & I would go out with him again in a heartbeat if we ever get the chance….I think he was more disappointed in the lack of fish than we were!

Brian
I would like to first apologize that your fishing experience ended up with less action than both of us had anticipated. No one on the boat wants you to catch big fish or a bunch of fish more than the Captain. We can’t provide for our family’s and make a living taking everyone fishing once. When it comes to fishing, our success rate is very high but we dont always fill the cooler. Captain Craig had three trips the day of your charter and two of them went well. So many factors including moon phase, tides, barometer movement and of course the ol’ we’re just not hungry right now can make things tricky. Even though all of those things are out of our control we are the only guide service i know of in this part of the coast that advertises “You’ll catch fish or your next trip is free”.  Our business has been built on exceeding the clients expectation. For the amount of anglers you had and the amount of time you were on the water, harvesting 1 Redfish and 4 Mangrove Snapper doesn’t meet my threshold of “Catching Fish”. If you are ever in the area again we would love another opportunity to show you what a great fishery we have. The next trip is “Free”. If you decide not to give us another opportunity under better conditions, I would understand. If you do decide to reschedule please give me as much notice as possible to ensure availabilty.

Our morning with Captain Bill was the highlight of our Spring Break week with our grandkids! He had us up early to “get to the fishing hole at the right time” but it was well worth it! Our baits hit the water and the fish hit our baits! My wife was the first to land a sheetshead. That set the standard! Captain Bill paid great attention to the kids, making sure they each caught a fish to start their morning right! He is very good with kids, patient, encouraging, and interactive. After several successful landings, we set out in search of other fish. The journey hooked us up with a pod of dolphins, which thrilled our grandson. Captain Bill is very knowledgeable about the waters, the surrounding area (such as the Naval Air Station as we watched the jets come and go!), and items of interest. At one point, he showed us a sunken shrimp boat on his sonar, a fascinating thing to “figure out” under the water! We continued to search for, find and catch fish. It was a wonderful way to spend 4 hours and worth every penny! If you want a great time AND catch some fish, “Hook up with Captain Bill!”

Wow what a great day. Never seen so many giant reds in one place, they were blowing up all around us. I am glad I got out of the deer woods to get in on some of the most catching action ever. Have seen this stuff on tv but never thought i would experiance it myself. We caught all giants all way over the slot right in pensicola bay. Will be back in spring fishing for sheephead with Capt. Craig can’t wait. Thanks Stacy

I decided to book a fishing trip for my best friends husband Stacey Smith on fishing booker who is an avid saltwater fisherman. They were vacationing in Pensacola. He chartered with Capt Craig Williams from Lost bay guide service and had a great time and caught some really nice fish! Thanks to Capt Craig for the great trip!

My daughter asked me to take her fishing and I said no problem, fishing is what I do best! She said no dad I want to actually catch fish not just float around getting sunburned. I was reluctant to hire a guide because I felt I could do as much or more than they could and do it a lot cheaper. I was told of Capt. Bill by one of my buddies who fished with him earlier in the year. He said Capt. Bill was worth every penny! So I called Lost Bay Guide service and set up a trip. To be totally honest, I can’t remember the last time I had that much fun fishing! Capt. Bill is a professional fun charismatic person who showed knowledge and skill from the time we left the dock to actually catching fish. The first place we stopped didn’t produce fish so Capt. Bill said hold on to your brain bucket (hat) we’re going to run up the bay to a little honey hole I know of. As my daughter and I threw our bait out both of us hooked up at the same time! Just about every cast was a fish on! I have a memory with my daughter that will last the rest of my life and I owe a big thank you to Capt. Bill for making that happen. If you fish with Capt. Bill be prepared to laugh, catch fish and make memories! My daughter asked me if we could make this an annual event, I said you took the words right out of my mouth! I can’t wait till the next trip!

We had the air conditioning turned up on the trip out to the bridge. In other words it was a cool morning, but when we got there and the fish started biting, but heat was on.  It got even warmer when the Reds started biting.  Our fishing went from eating to sport in a hurry. The three of us had a good time and the pictures say it all.
Thanks Capt Bill

I’ve been fishing with Capt. Bill Willis for over 5 years! And as you might guess, there’s a reason.  FISH!
It’s always enjoyable but no matter the weather, he always seems to find the fish. Our trip yesterday was no exception. While catching white trout for eating, Capt. Bill saw a RED FISH RISE on the water and away we went! All 3 of us in the boat hooked up, and we each landed a nice “BULL RED”. We did that twice more, the last time just as we were headed home. That’s why I have always, and will continue to fish with, Capt. Bill Willis. Thanks, Bill its always a blast!!!  Steve Hammer, Oregon, IL.

My boyfriend, his Dad, and I went fishing with captain Bill last year. The trip overall was AMAZING! We caught SO many redfish. It was freezing cold that weekend, but we had such a good time, the weather didn’t matter. We also caught some trout that we brought home and had a fish fry with. Captain Bill is such a funny guy with a great sense of humor. Not only will he put you on fish, he’ll keep you laughing. If you love fishing, give captain Bill at Lost Bay guide service in Pensacola FL. I can’t wait to go on another fishing adventure with him!

This was my second charter with Captain Bill Willis.  I cannot say enough good things about the experience, the quality of the boat (and the gear), and most importantly the expertise Captain Bill has fishing in the panhandle.  Bill is a true southern gentleman and makes everyone feel comfortable and fired up about the next cast.  As with my first trip, we went searching for schooling bull redfish.  After a few runs across Pensacola bay (which were fun as we were cruising at top speed) we spotted seagulls circling an area which we raced to.  Sure enough they had found the reds for us.  If you haven’t fished in a school of feeding red fish, you have missed an exciting experience.  It is almost impossible to not land a bull red.  I cannot wait until I return for my 3rd charter with Bill.  I certainly would recommend using Lost Bay Guide Service for your next charter.

We have fished with Captain Bill Willis several times. Each trip has been more memorable than the last. Captain Bill kept us entertained and on the fish the whole trip. He did an awesome job teaching my 11 year old about different species of fish and the differences in the tackle we used. I would recommend a trip with Captain Bill to anyone. You will not be disappointed.

We were vacationing in Orange Beach and decided to try and charter a fishing trip for Bull Reds (despite it not being the season).  Captain Bill was booked so he set us up with Captain Craig, who was very easy to work with.  We met at a local dock and after a 30 minute boat ride we were quickly catching some speckled sea trout on Gulp shrimp and then hooked something BIG! Capt.Craig knew right away I had hooked a Big Bull Red. I handed the rod to my 13 year old son and he battled the huge fish on light tackle for several minutes. During one of the many, long, drag ripping runs, the Big Bull got the line tangled in the trolling motor. Capt. Craig and his trusty assistant Stacy were able to free the line and the fight was back on! A few minutes later Capt. Craig was able to land the 37” Bull Red. At that time it was the largest fish my son had caught. Little did we know, that was very soon to change. Capt Craig started scanning the water and saw the reds churning the surface a short distance away. For the next 2 hours it was UNBELIEVABLE! We were able to catch and release a total of 15 huge Bull Reds! The largest was a 40” Giant fish! We have been on many fishing trips and this was truly the best time ever! We look forward to fishing with Capt. Craig again - next time for tarpon and sharks!

This Captain put me on several huge redfish on my fly rod. Every cast was super easy do to his boating skills. Many guides in saltwater required long casts. Capt. Bill knew the exact time of year for a novice fly fisherman to put the cast on a huge bull. It was a twenty to thirty foot cast two strips of the line and bammmmmmm freight train on. Amazing guide. Boat super clean, all the equipment I saw was immaculate. He said he doesn’t do primarily fly so I brought my own outfit. He’s patient and fun to be around. Even kind enough to let me borrows his wicked awesome hat for the picture…. Stand up guy!!!!

Fishing with Captain Bill Willis of Lost Bay Guide Service was a fishing trip I will remember forever. His love for what he does shows in the way he treats his clients. He knows what he is doing and sees to it that those fishing with him have a fishing experience of a lifetime. He took pictures for us to share with our friends to prove how much fun we had.
I plan to have many more fishing experiences with Captain Bill Willis. His attitude and knowledge of fishing made the trip extra special. He had a great personality and his only goal was to make us have a day to remember. I plan more fishing trips with Captain Bill Willis.
