This was my 1st time fishing in ocean water. My husband isn’t much of a fisher unless they are biting…lol. Captain Clay Hinton was very knowledgeable, patient, and helped me understand what it feels like to get a bite and when to start reeling in. I ended up catching a small shark… and 3 red fish. The shark was our dinner that night. The 3 red fish I couldn’t keep…. 1 was too small… and 2 were actually too BIG… if you can imagine that… there was size limits on them and because of that… I couldn’t keep. He kept taking us to different spots to try and get us flounder or other fish but they just wasn’t biting. He tried sooo hard and genuinely felt bad we didn’t get more. But the weather was part of the issue. We had to start a little later than planned but can’t help the weather.  He was concerned about our safety at all times… moving us when needed because of the current and storms coming in.  I will definitely come back and use him to go off shore fishing.  Thank you Captain Clay for such a wonderful and memorable experience.

Clay took us on two trips this week. First off he’s extremely good with young kids and making sure they have fun and stay busy! My little boy had an awesome time. When he got tired, Clay offered to drive around and look for dolphins or seashells or whatever we wanted to do. He just wanted to make sure we had a good time no matter what we were doing. He took just me out for the second trip on an offshore. It was a blast! As I was getting one fish in the boat, he was already handing me another pole ready to go making sure I had as much time as I could to fish. Btw, super smart. Knows where all the fish hide and how to get them, and we did! He stayed in contact about weather and trip details all week up until time which is a huge plus for me because weather changes so much out here. Whether you want to take your kids out in the bay for a fun calm trip, or go offshore and catch your limit while you try to catch some big fish too, 100% go with Clay! He was awesome and I’ll make sure to only go with him from now on. It’s a huge difference when you go with somebody who you can just tell loves their job and takes pride in it. He’s going to make your time and money worth it out there no doubt

We booked a 4 hour “Beat the Heat” that was supposed to launch at 6 pm.  Way in advance the captain reached out and we discussed our trip. My main goal was to get fish on the line for my 10 year old son.

With that in mind, as the day approached the captain followed back up and reported that due to current and tide patterns he was experiencing better fishing earlier in the afternoon. He offered up several other launch times and we went with 3 pm.  On the day of the charter he reached back out and discussed potential challenges with the wind, but that he has some possible solutions. It would just mean fishing different areas than what we previously discussed.  All that to say that the communication before hand was excellent.

We went forward with the trip and it was exactly what we were looking for. We caught several sharks, flounder, red fish, skip jack, Spanish mackerel, and a toad fish. My son was able to feed a friendly dolphin that came right up to the boat.

Due to the increased wind there were no issues with the heat. The locations selected were smooth and everything played out perfectly.

Capt was very knowledgeable about the area. We have fun fighting Bonita. Then caught some vermillion snapper but they weren’t very active so the captain asked us if we ever had shark, so we went after trout and shark.  Caught a few trout but the catfish were really active. Caught a bunch of those (Didn’t keep). Shark bit through our lines a couple times and only caught a baby so we didn’t keep it. Got to get real up close with a few dolphin which was a cool way to end the trip. Was very happy with our trip and boy was the eating good! Capt cleaned and fillet our catches and he did a great job, even recommended how to prepare it. Phone died cause I forgot to charge it so I only got pics of the Bonita.

Great day on the water, the crew kept us updated through the entire process. We decided to upgrade to off shore last minute based on recommendations from current trips.We are so glad we did. We had captain Jared and we knew we were in for a good day from the very beginning. The boats were top notch and he asked what we wanted to catch for the day and headed out. We caught fish at each stop and could have had our limit of red snapper early in the day but we kept fishing for bigger and different species. We also caught a bull shark and it was a fight for over an hour. He was very patient and knowledgeable of all types of species as well as exact depths and ways to present the baits to get fish in the boat. He also stayed out longer because the bite was going so well.  In my 30 years of fishing all along the gulf on many vacations I can’t think of a time that I have walked away without some kind of complaint. But we had a great day with great people and will be back soon.
