If you’re looking for a charter fishing trip, Jay and his boat are where it’s at. Especially since he has a bigger boat and is charging the same (less in some cases) than some with smaller boats. He knew where to go to get the fish and we had a great time.

Admittedly, fishing at Hilton Head in the heat of June is not the fish slaying time of year.  We opted for “action” vs “food” which I guess means only Shark fishing.  We stopped and netted some live bait and then went just a half mile or so off shore and anchored.  I thought it would be a temp spot, but we stayed parked there the whole time.  The one line with a float (to keep the live bait up) was very active, and the three others we spotty at best….....but for some reason we only had one float deployed.  The first mate was very knowledgeable and constantly worked, helping us at every turn….....but so much help, that he “hooked” the catch prior to handing it off.  And the tackle was so large, we just had to reel it in….....took away a bit of the action.

All in all, a good calm day on the water, with an older but servicable boat.  Not an outstanding fishing experience (mostly due to the season), but not a bad experience either.  If you are vacationing in Hilton Head in the heat of the summer, just book the shark fishing trip as that is all that is available.
