The bite is back! We released four just like this one and took one home for dinner.

The fishing has been really good the last couple of weeks! Trout and redfish are closed right now, but my clients today (Kevin and Danielle) weren't interested in keeping anything. The Snook was a hot bite but mostly undersized. There were plenty of keeper Trout, but you can't keep them until Jan. 1st. Black Drum and Redfish have both been a hot bite if you know where to look. Altogether, it was a great day!

The Trout bite is back and now on the up-swing! Saturday morning 10 minutes from the dock we were on a GREAT bite of Trout. Every throw was a Trout; not all were keeper size, most were 14 inch, but what a bite! And in between the Trout were Lady fish, not much use, but a great fight! On the second stop, constant hook-ups but all small Trout. Not wanting to waste the resource we moved on. The next stop brought out a Shark, some Jacks, and a small Snook. On our last stop we ran into a school of Redfish! We brought up 4 good fighters! We can't keep them right now so we ambled on to the dock. The weather was windy, the water was a little choppy in spots and the sun peeked in and out of the clouds a little each day... But it might as well have been raining redfish! That's how many we caught! The first day (Wednesday), i took out Chad and Kari for a few short hours. They brought 9 redfish, 2 snook and a few mangrove snapper to the boat. It was Kari's day and everywhere she cast she was catching the reds! Poor Chad was a good sport about it, even though Kari gave him her spot on the bow he still didn't catch one. Friday Art and his grandson Daniel got a bit of a late start on another partly cloudy and windy morning but the wind died down a little and we got on the redfish on the first stop and before the morning was over they had caught 30 head of reds, a 20 inch trout, 4 snook and 7 mangrove snapper. WOW!!! They were sure some happy fishermen when we got back to the dock! If this is any indication of what is to come, the redfish season is going to be fantastic!!

We went out early to avoid as much heat as possible. We watched the sun come up and the bait shower across the water in front of us. no sooner did the sunlight hit the water and the first trout hit the deck! We reeled in some small ones and a couple of slot sized and decided to move a little. I don't know if the dolphins were leading or following but everywhere we found good fish they seemed to find us! We were almost ready to come in when Josh got a runaway hit and a 27" snook exploded out of the water and it was a site to see! He put up a good fight but it just ended too soon. it was a great way to end the day!
