Captain Luke has fished the waters around Mount Desert Island since he got his first skiff at 5 years old. As the son of a lobsterman, he grew up on a small island off the coast of Maine that can only be accessed by boat. He has fished the waters from Maine to Florida: 'I have fished my whole life, from lobsters to Giant Tunas and everything in between. The ocean is where I feel most at home'.

    An Amazing 8-Hour Fishing Adventure — Plenty of Fish

    Full Day – Deep Sea • 4 adults

    What a wonderful fishing trip! We spent eight hours out on the water and had an amazing time from start to finish. We caught plenty of pollock, cod, cusk, mackerel, Acadian redfish, and even one squid! The captain was fantastic—very attentive throughout the entire trip and always checking on us, helping out, and making sure we were on the fish and catching something. We definitely didn’t leave disappointed!

    Half Day- Fishing & Lobster Combo - 12:00 PM • 6 adults

    What a great day of fishing and sightseeing for our entire family. Captain Luke listened to what we wanted to do and was able to fit it all in. Seal watching and island exploring for my wife and a couple of hours of fishing for the kids and I. Although we didn't catch any monsters like we were hoping, we did catch a large variety of fish and some we have never seen before. I highly recommend Captain Luke to anyone interested in going out on the water off of Acadia.

    One of the best trips we’ve taken

    Half Day- Fishing & Lobster Combo • 2 adults

    We book a fishing charter on almost every trip we take. In the 25+ years we’ve been taking fishing trips, this is hands down one of the best. Boat was comfortable, had everything we needed, and the captain supplied water and snacks. The best part of this trip was Luke, the Captain. He’s knowledgeable, friendly, and went out of his way to make sure we did as much (or as little) as we wanted during our trip. Photos are of our dinner that we made as soon as we got home.

    Luke is a very experienced boat Captain and fisherman to say the least! Luke is very accommodating thru-out the trip and makes sure your having a good ti me and are comfortable doing it. We caught plenty of fish to share ! So, if your thinking of booking a fishing trip I definitely recommend Captain Luke Higgins. Dont miss it! The highlight of your Florida Keys fishing adventure!

    Caught a 6’ Nurse Shark today!

    3 Hour Trip – Custom - 1:30 PM • 3 adults

    What a treasure to find Capt Luke and his boat nearby our hotel wirh plenty if parking. i had mistakenly booked the wrong date but Luke fixed it. Great communication back and forth while we watched the windy conditions we had forcasted. Comfortable boat handled the waves very well. I highly recommend using Capt Luke for your fishing charters, very reasonable and capable. My 25 year old son is an avid fisherman and was thrilled to catch a 6’ nurse shark, along with numerous other fish. We’ll be back! 🐟😎 Paula and Max

The tuna and mahi bite was really good on this short trip, i haven't been getting out very much due to the weather, but we bailed through some for a couple of hours and had nearly nonstop action one we got on the fish. This weeks weather looks pretty good after Tuesday so let's get out and catch some fish!

The wind has held us in for most of the week, but next week looks incredible. Mahi are around and the king mackerel bite has been great and since nice yellowtails on the reef with some other variety coming in.

It has been breezy, but we have been able to get out on some of the inner reefs. The 13-14 inch yellowtail bite is good with some other fish mixed in. The weather this coming week is looking better and I'm expecting to see some good mahi/dolphin fishing on the troll.

As nice as it usually is in the keys, we have had a year of the cold for the past couple of weeks which has thrown this fishing off. BUT, the weather is getting better and the fish are biting again! The wahoo bite had been pretty good, the tuna bite was great today and we even picked up this nice 30lb African pompano. The patch reefs seem to be coming back to life and I expect them to continue to get better. The wind forecast for the foreseeable future is good and it is a great time to book a trip!

Florida Keys Fishing at it's Best

Yesterday was a great day on the water. The fish were biting, the weather was beautiful! It was a perfect day for trolling. Wahoo are biting and it's always a fun fight! We caught a couple wahoo, some mahi and blackfin as well.
