- I have to credit my dad for helping me discover my love for fishing at a very young age. My dad would take me to the beach and we would seine for glass minnows when I was barely old enough to wade into the surf. Fast forward to my teenage years and it was my dad who introduced me to the Outer Banks. My first offshore fishing trip was with Rom Whitaker during his first year as a captain at Hatteras Harbor. He made a big impression on me and encouraged me to take my own small boat out to the Gulf Stream, that's how I got started.
